Bennett on his physical progression this summer: "If you're asking about how many chin-ups I did, it was 11."
Still won't be big or strong enough for the NHL this season. Let's not ruin him like the Oilers did with Nugent-Hopkins by rushing him too soon. See you in 2015-16 when you are 10 pounds heavier and you can do 20 chin-ups.

5 foot 9 really doesn't seem THAT small. (Or tiny as Burke put it)

That's still some significant beef missing.
Gaudreau is still at the weight BC listed for him last fall.

He's emphasized in interviews how Martin St. Louis and other small NHL players advised him to not get too big, otherwise it will be harder to stickhandle. It's possible he has maxed out and is in the best shape he can be.

I'm not sure he's gonna be that big by then anyways. He's 21 now, so it's not like there's much growing left. He's actually have to bulk up and maintain that which I'm not sure is a great thing.

I nearly cracked up when Bennett mentioned the pull-ups. Very glad he has a sense of humour about it.

Talking about Bennett, not Gaudreau.

Yea unless Bennett somehow gets up to like 195+ before the season, he should be in the OHL. It'll be best for his development.

Cammy said so too after Roger asked him about how Gaudreau "obviously needs to change his body type." Cammy basically cut him off and said his advice would be just to be in the best possible shape he can be within himself and not worry about bulking up or a specific weight goal.

So a couple of guys who are 180 tell the guy who's 160 he doesn't need to get bigger. Then why aren't those dummies playing at that weight?

While St. Louis is comparable, play-wise, to Gaudreau, the only thing he and Cammy have in common is that they are short.

Majority of St. Louis' weight is in his legs. I imagine he had similar advice for Gaudreau, just to avoid getting too worried about bulk. If he spent his entire summer in the weightroom punding protein shakes trying to get buffed up, it would likely be detrimental to his progress.

Kane pushes 180, but doesn't have the insane legs that St. Louis does. All of this is completely dependent on body type, which is why the IMO best advice is to be as fit as possible rather than trying to reach a target weight.

I also doubt that St. Louis and Cammy were at those weights in their rookie seasons. My guess is it took at least a few years of growing into men before they hit that mass.

Shockingly people have different body types.

Sean Monahan and Brandon Bollig are listed at the same height with about 40lbs difference between them.

I recall Bennett saying he was 185 lbs. at development camp. This would now put him at 189-190. Only 5 lbs. less than Monahan's playing weight last season. Hmmm....

i remember last year at this time, if someone was to have asked me to give my opinion on whether monahan was going to play in the NHL all year, i would have put it at under a 20% chance (ie. 80% he'll be back in junior).

excited to see if Bennet can "Shock" management into a tough decision come end of camp.

I was just going to say that the reflected photo isn't showing his fat side.
