You need to get out of the wind.
Glencross, Jones, Setoguchi, Bollig, Bouma, Wolf, Colbourne McGrattan
are 8 of the top 14 forwards that are beefy.
Backlund has filled out and much stronger than he was. Stajan was forced to get stronger (4th line play) when it was found out he did not have top end skill.
Byron is small but has to play like a buzz-saw to keep his spot on the roster.
Monahan does not play a physical game, but he is big and strong and not going to get pushed around.
On Forwards we are left with Hudler and Raymond as our small soft players and maybe one of Gaudreau, Baertschi or Granlund .
On Defense just 2 seasons ago the Flames were putting out non-contact duo of Bouwmeester/Butler for basically half the game. Made Kipper's last year a night-mare in the Flames crease.
Adding Smid and Engelland to Gio and Wideman makes it a certainty that there will be one beefy d-man on the ice 100% of the time.
Russell is small but doesn't avoid contact. That leaves Brodie as the soft defenseman. Brodie and Russell will never be on the ice at the same time.
I understand that the GRIT concept is above your head but the Flames management (Burke) has been making the exact moves that I have been advocating for the last 2 years.
Over the last 2 years out: Tanguay, Cammalleri, Cervenka, Bouwmeester, Stempniak, Horak, Butler, Babchuk and Derek Smith..... that is 9 non-beefy guys out from the 2012-13 Flames You can almost make it 10 because Baertschi played 20 out of the 48 games that year.
The only non-beefy guy coming in is Raymond .... do the maths if you can.
