Sure, and I agree Richard is certainly Montreal's most iconic player. I would have picked him as well, but I think Beliveau and Lafleur should have at least earned the honourable mention of "Also in the running..." like some other players that weren't selected.

I agree Iginla is our best player ever, but no contest? But Fleury is just behind him in second.

Agreed, but at the same time, Montreal could have a dozen honourable mentions. Morenz, Vezina, Roy, Plante, Dryden, Beliveau, Lafleur, Joliat, H. Richard...

McDonald for Calgary. He is everything you dream for in a franchise player. Great skills, great leader, worked endlessly in the community, and was all class. When the Flames were looking to establish the franchise McDonald stepped in and gave them that star to build around. His character and leadership was key in the formation of a team that could not only take down the juggernaut that was the 80's Oilers, but become a team that was one of the best in NHL history.

For sure Selanne should have been the choice in Winnipeg. Still to this day he is easily the most popular player to play for them.
And Gretzky should also be the choice in LA. It is often universally said that he gets credit for growing the game down south. So I don't see how Robitaille, as great as he is, goes ahead of him.

It seems that ESPN only allowed a player to be listed once. Gretzky is definitely the obvious choice for both LA and Edmonton

the Finish Flash only played for Winnipieg. Not Pheonix or Winnipeg... Some people...
I think Vernon was the best player in Flames History. Those epic Fuhr Vs Vernon battles were awesome.

Vernon isn't even the best goalie in Flames history...
Anyone trying to say Iginla wasn't the franchise player is trying too hard.

Wrong. He never played for the Minnesota Wild, why would they share? And didn't he only play like 3 seasons before Minnesota relocated?

Sundin may have played 17 seasons for the leafs but were they ever a relevant team over that period? I guess you'd have to go back to the time of the original 6 to find a relevant leafs team.
Linden for the Nucks? Bure put that team on the map. Linden would struggle to be a franchise player in a rec league forget the NHL.
For the flames... Case could be easily be made for Vernon, Fleury, Nieuwendyk, MacInnis. Love Iggy but the flames teams back then were juggernauts
