Anybody opened an account with Tangerine.ca yet?

I have an ING/Tangerine HISA. After they dropped the interest rate from 1.5% to 1.3%. I left $25 with Tangerine to keep the account open so I could collect any referral bonuses and moved to People's Trust who pay 1.8%.

Canadian Direct Financial is who I use. They offer 1.9% on regular savings and 2.25% on TFSAs.. They are the online branch of Canadian Western Bank.

I use it because the site is so damn simple. I technically do my main banking through Scotiabank, but I use Tangerine as a savings dump for things that I want to basically forget about. You can create as many small accounts as you like, so if you're saving up for a vacation you can just set it to draw funds from your primary bank account on a schedule. Plus you can deposit cheques with a mobile phone photo (but I haven't done that yet).

Ya, that app is pretty cool

You don't even have to press the button on your phone to take the pic. It takes it for you when you are the correct distance from the cheque.
