It's a bit too busy, but yeah I like it.

Edit: referring to the Wild, not Aves

The nordiques jersey is a timeless classic and one of the all-time greats, and i will shout at anyone who disagrees!!

Wow, that does sound like an arena football or roller hockey team name. The Avalanche is still a horrible name though. Too bad the baseball team stole Rockies but they could have at least added an S onto their name to be the Avalanches. Also, why do most people shorten the name to Avs? I usually call them the Lanche.

I do like their logo and they have great colours but I have never liked their jerseys. The big issues are the vertical stripes and and too many colours going on with the black and silver. They did get it better with the blue third jersey but screwed up by not putting the logo on it.

Finally, that Quebec jersey that was never used looks okay but is not as nice as the classic. It is kind of funny the Nordiques were going to change from blue & red to blue & light blue since that is exactly what Winnipeg did when they got a team back.

I wouldn't have minded the Extreme.

I bet the "Flames" would get a pretty harsh reception today if it was just introduced now.

Agreed they were beautiful. I really liked the Whalers too, especially the ones they came out with in 93.

If there was a jersey with a big X on it, would it be mean to call them a cross dresser?

I remember hearing Rocky Mountain Express was a possible name, which I think had potential.

Too bad this didn't go through. The fan base could have been labelled 'Extremists.'

Canucks fans hold that label now.

Random thing that always stuck with me as different with the Avs when they entered, was wearing black helmets with home jerseys for a few (1?) games.

At the 5 min mark of part 1 of the 1996 year in review/promo video:

Not sure the reason, may have been equipment shortage-related or the NHL told them to change.

It was the best of times, and the most extreme of times.........would have been even better if they went with xtrem and then put their team name on the butt end of their pants and what not

90's sports branding was definitely gaudy, but at least Colorado would have been in good company.
