I'm awaree of that. Although 4th pick in the 3rd round is the same as say Chicago or LA's 2nd.
The going price for good but not great college free agents last year was a 4th rnd pick. Knight for example. So I still see Arnold as around that value.
Well the going rate for pending free agents is low because teams are trying to get anything for an asset they are losing. If the Panthers were able to retain the rights for Corban Knight without him walking for nothing I suspect his value would be higher than a 4th.
Anyways no biggie - just an odd way to rank prospects.
I went with Arnold. I think he could be a good 3rd line player. I looked at Sieloff but I have hard time picking a guy with 48 games in the CHL 2 seasons ago and only 2 games in the AHL least season. The guy needs to prove he can stay healthy.
I haven't seen Kulak play so it's hard to judge him. Had a great season for the Giants last year but it was 2 years after he was drafted so you have to be careful not to get to excited about the big numbers.
Sieloff. If that injury didn't derail his season last year it would have been him called up over Wotherspoon imo.
He will be heavily motivated this year watching his former World Juniors team mate JG tearing it up in the NHL and bounce back. He is a very responsible defender who lays the big hits, mature game beyond his years.

Think it will be an uphill battle for either guy though.
It's funny. I think they will have a hard time at center. But could see both transitioning to RW and potentially becoming good two-way players at RW on the third line.
Personally, his response has been pretty impressive and made me far more interested in him than I was last year. The small bits I've seen suggest he is strong and back on track, and that is a gigantic show of character for a kid his age.
To be on the cusp of an NHL career, and have a staph infection (which itself would be a special kind of hell) and bounce back excited to get back on the horse is pretty damn impressive. Smaller life setbacks have ended may peoples motivations, and it clearly will take a lot more to ruin Sieloff's determination.
We talk about people's floors and ceilings a lot. Whatever you see Sieloff's ceiling as, he's putting on a good demonstration that he is going to move mountains to achieve it.
Can someone please post a video or some kind of defence of this prospect? Guy has played basically zero hockey in the last two seasons and has never put up points or done anything other than lay a couple of hard checks. He wasn't the star of the USA team he was a part of...
I just don't get it. This is the most all-hype no-substance prospect I've seen in the Flames org. for a long time.

Well to be fair, although he was the last player to make Team USA, he was paired with Trouba on the 2nd line by the end of the tournament.
There was also a lot of speculation he was going to be named captain of the team the following year if he hadn't been injured IIRC.

I don't think you can call it over-hyping in round 12.
But if I had to guess why people like him so much, I'd say it's his physicality and leadership. Unfortunately, I don't believe you can be a top 4 defender when your only elite attributes are those I just said.
I'd put his ceiling as a heart and soul, hard-hitting, defensively responsible, 3rd pairing guy.
He leaves his feet every time... High risk hits.. and he has to fight after every one of them, so any momentum his team would gain is squelched immediately.
I don't see "NHL upside" anywhere in this highlight package.
He is probably the least intriguing of our top-20/30. If we had any depth of defensive prospects at all he'd be buried. Kulak, Culkin appear way ahead in my book.

He reminds me of Cory Sarich in a lot of ways.
Top 4 potential, the ability to impact the game with a big hit, smart liability-free defence, with 0 offense.

That kind of hitting is a liability. You miss one of those and you're out of position, heck you aren't even in the right zone anymore.
AC, you'd be the guy to ask about a highlight package, you have any clips kicking around?
And I know it's round twelve, but Sieloff has been getting votes since round 2.
I don't see how that kind of player wins a championship, or even stays healthy enough to play for a full season.
