I'm still not sure why Granlund ranks much (if any) higher than Reinhart. They are within a year of each other in age, had similar offensive production in Abby last season (in fact Reinart was slightly more productive) and Reinhart has a far more robust and well rounded game. What am I not seeing in Granlund that everyone else is?

I think Reinhart is in the next tier that includes Arnold, Sieloff, Knight and Janko.
That doesn't even include MacDonald and Smith from this year.
Very interesting times.
This a lot more fun to do then it has been in the past.

Granlund is a year younger. It makes a big difference in prospects.
When Reinhart was Granlund's age he scored 21 pointsi(and -26) in 67 games in the AHL.

I like Poirier but I think it's a little early to be picking him as our fourth best prospect. He did well at the end of the Heat season but it could be some of the same reason Baertschi excelled, adrenalin.
I'm still going with the more proven prospects in Wotherspoon and than Ortio. One thing Wotherspoon won't be accused of is basing his game on adrenalin. He's so calm, poised and measured in making plays look easy, he looks like he's been playing 10 years in the NHL. The guys a player and a winner.

Arnold and Klimchuk had good chemistry, so I am hoping in a few years our top 3 line LW - C is:
Gaudreau - Bennett -
Baertschi - Monahan -
Klimchuk - Arnold -
Possible RW's: Poirier, Backlund, Colborne, Hudler (maybe), Smith, Knight
|
Klimchuk could be a good answer for Bennett - Poirier.
If Ferland reaches top 6 potential, what a line that would be!
I like Gaudreau with Monahan and Poirier with Bennett.
Far too early obviously, but it is nice to imagine:
Gaudreau - Monahan - Smith
Klimchuk - Bennett - Poirier
Baertschi - ???????? - Ferland (Backlund for now, maybe McDavid/Eichel later)
That still leaves Arnold, Knight, Colborne, Granlund, Reinhart, Jankowski and so many others as other options or as assets.
Pretty exciting.

Poirier for me here. My list is currently:
1. Gaudreau
2. Bennett
3. Ortio
4. Poirier
Sven will likely be next.

I am going Pouier here as his upside at least top 6 and his potential as a super pest if he doesn't turn into a top 6 player. I am not convinced Granlund is strong enough at the NHL level.
Next i will be Wortherspoon, Ortio, and then Grandlund.

Really surprised by how much of a landslide this is.. i'm not convinced Poirier is the #4 prospect in the system after just 5 games in the AHL.
Voted Granlund.

He didn't just play 5 games in the AHL, he also had a great year in the CHL. Considering the top two prospects have one pro game played between them I don't know if how many AHL games played us the best way to judge them.

Confused by the skating concerns regarding Poirier. He might be the fastest skater we have...

My vote for him has nothing to do with his 5 games in the AHL, and everything to do what he has done in the CHL.
Just because a players hasn't had a chance to play in the AHL/NHL yet, doesn't mean they are a worse off prospect. It usually just means that they are young and nothing else.

Maybe I missed something. Who is concerned with his skating?
It is elite.

I'm not basing it on the short stint in the AHL anymore than I would base my evaluation of Granlund on his short stint in the NHL.

What's the poll sitting at right now? On phone, can't see it.
I'm torn between Poirier and Granny.

Granlund was drafted 2 years before Porier so unfair to label Porier the worse prospect due to less pro games. He had a huge year in the Q, he represents a massive need in terms of being a big, fast, scoring winger. Troy Ward called him a future 30 goal scorer in the NHL.
He is the better prospect in my opinion

It was a hard decision between Granlund and Poirier. Poirier has probably higher potential, but with Granlund proving himself in his 1st year of pro in NA, puts him slightly ahead in my books.
If Granlund was a first rounder he would probably get more respect right now.
