I drove the 401 from KW to Toronto a couple of years ago, and speeds fluctuated between about 30k - 160k.

From what my father who lives on the island was telling me was that BC doesn't have any roadside radars either. To get caught speeding, you have to have a cop behind you. apparently they found it just too administratively bothersome and not worth the money. That was a couple of years ago, so maybe it's changed.

No photo radar in BC as far as I know. Driving through the parks isn't too bad I do it once every 2-3 weeks and haven't been nailed cruising at 110 yet.

They scrapped it a few years ago (photo radar). My sister had an outstanding ticket and didn't have to pay it.

There is a lighted intersection in Lethbridge right where the police station is and I swear that the yellow light is timed so quickly at times that it makes people run red lights while they sit there and give out tickets. Sometimes the light would only last 1 or 2 seconds and at other times it would last for 4 or 5. I actually did get a ticket there for running a yellow as well (which at the time I didn't know was even an offense).

Photo radar maybe not, but they do have roadside. I drove through Creston a while back and they had a trap set up, pulling people over in town.

RCMP in Kootenay park were using roadside radar between Vermillion Pass and the border last weekend.

It's funny between Osoyoos and Penticton the limit is 80, and with the excessive amounts of senior citizens you are lucky to touch 70. They added two passing lanes in the past couple years....speed limit was 80. Will be interested to see if this road has a new speed limit now. Truth is 80 for the two lane part is about right, but no way the passing section should be the same.

I drove from Salmon Arm to Calgary today, seemed like the pace was a bit quicker, most people did 100ish vs the usual 80-90. Might have been volume or a lack of elderly motorhomes.
