In Canada it's common for right handed skaters to shoot left to keep their dominant hand on the top of the stick.

In the USA the opposite school of thought prevails.

I've always thought defenders should keep their dominant hand on the top of the stick, for better control while sweep/poke checking the puck, and forward should have their dominant hand as the bottom hand, controlling the stick.

Been reading up on Mattsson and from what I can tell from google translate, his Mom had breast cancer in 1997, survived then the cancer returned in 2008 and metastasized and was uncurable. His mother passed away in 2012.

His youngest brother has a "cerebal injury" and needs special care.

His mother and family wrote a blog about dealing with the cancer (in Swedish):

The newest Swedish Flames prospect talks about his injury and losing his mother to cancer two years ago.

“I was riding a bike and there were rocks on the road,” he explained after another upper body day at Winsport’s facilities, his first taste of professional hockey. “I tripped with the bike and fell and twisted my foot. I have a crack in it . . . There’s only like two more weeks until it heals.

“I was actually on my way to my mom’s grave on mother’s day.”
