To those thinking this is bad, does Pittsburgh need any more offence? They needed more two way players and that's what they received. It could be argued that they should have received a pick, but the salary differences likely offset that.

With Kunitz turning thirty-five, Jokinen likely leaving, and now the downgrade in scoring with Neal for Hornqvist, I think they do need some offence now.

Horrible trade.
1 time.

Jonathan Cheechoo was a 40 goal guy with Jumbo.

I'm not saying Neal is Cheechoo, but I agree with Kootney, Neal is overrated from the fan perspective.

Hornqvist is what the pens need, a little more effort at both ends of the ice and a little more effort consistently through the game through the season.

Neal just doesn't bring much besides scoring.

Hornqvist isn't the player he used to be though, either.

This is a deal where the fallout will be interesting.

Not a bad deal for either team. Pitt gets more two way depth and Nashville gets some much needed pure scoring ability.

Hornqvist could do great with the pens star centers. He also adds a grittier 2way guy.

Neal is cheap and overrated.

Looks like a pretty fair deal to me.

I think this is a shrewd move by Rutherford. Pittsburgh's problem for years has been depth, and both Hornqvist and Spaling are good players. We'll see how good Neal is when he's not waterskiing behind Malkin.

I guess if your trying to land more rounded players it makes sense but the value still seems poor.
