Why not drop down with such a project? Damn, what a disappointment.

ESPN guys are actually mocking the Raptors' pick. They are trying to figure if there's any other Bruno drafted in the NBA before. Then someone mentioned Bruno Mars.
ESPN is pretty high on Shabbaz Napier but he hasn't get picked yet after 22 picks. I don't know much about Napier so I can't comment on why he hasn't get picked yet.

Yeah, heard that too. Was in good nature fun. Even as a Raptors fan I'd have ripped that pick at that position apart. This is a second round project at best by the sounds of it. I'm not a fan of picks where teams think they know much more than others and make large stretches. Most of the time, especially in basketball where learning is linear and comes over time, the rankings are more or less pretty correct. Guys like this will likely never see the light in the NBA. I'm all for swinging for the fences, but not at 20.

Meh, if they think he's good then why not? Most guys drafted even in the first round are busts.
If you looks at 2010 draft (has been long enough now so can be evaluated). Most of those later picks in the 1st half are unknowns.
I don't mind it. It's the picks in the top 10 like the Arujo pick that was stupid.

I believe in the Jays.

Man, what a strange pick for the Raptors. I haven't seen this guy on anyone's radar at all.

Glenn Robinson III got picked by Minnesota. He's the guy I am hoping the Raptors pick in the 2nd round. I hope they pick Bachynski on their 59th pick.

The Lowry/Bosh rumour is uhhh what? I can't actually see it happening. Bosh would have to be part of the trade to make the money work. Cash and picks is not enough.

Proposed Trades :
Philadelphia traded their 10th pick Elfrid Payton to Orlando's 12th Dario Saric
Chicago traded their 16th pick Jusuf Nurkic and their 19th Gary Harris to Denver's 11th pick Doug McDermott.
Toronto Raptors missed out on Tyler Ennis who were picked by Phoenix as 18th pick. Okay, WTF happen??? Who the heck is Bruno Cabolco??? I was thinking they will pick Shabbaz Napier and maybe trade him to Miami later on. Wow!!

Dumb question here. A little while back I was searching for details on the Vince Carter draft, and I see he was not drafted by TO, but traded for shortly after, for no apparent assets outside of the other drafted player. Now I see this, another pick for pick deal. Am I missing something here? Why dont these teams just pick the guy they want. Flame away if I am an idiot.

I'm so disappointed with that pick. I'd think he would have been there at 37 or maybe even 59 for them and at 20 they could have had Hood, Anderson or Capela. I hope I'm wrong but MU may have reached here and cost the Raptors what would have been a quality prospect. If Lowry does walk they will regret passing on Napier and could be in trouble next year.

The league has to approve proposed trades and sometimes it takes a while if there are trade exemptions used, cash considerations, future picks etc. There are always lots of draft day trades or teams drafting for each other. Hope the raps are involved in one because I really don't like that first round pick.

The Philly trade was actually not one-for-one deal. They are getting some other compensation later.
Here's a weird one... Brooklyn Nets just paid $1M for Minnesota's 2nd round pick.
Another Canadian Dwight Powell just got picked.. so that's 4 Canadians now.

Pretty sure it has to do with contract amounts
http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/info/rookie_scale
"First round picks can sign for as much as 120% and as little as 80% of the rookie scale."

Thanks for the responses! Always found the NBA cba hard to understand, guess it makes sense if there is exemption, cap, contact, implications.

Still waiting for the other Canadians to get picked. It doesn't look good because draft is almost done.
Melvin Ejim, Khem Birch and Jordan Bachynski are still undrafted.
