I'd take Lemeiux at 34 if he is still there (list has him at 33). He's a belligerent SOB.

I've heard some negatives about both Ho Sang and Lemieux in terms of character. I'd prefer Calgary avoids them.

Maybe Burke and company got different vibes from one or both during the interview process.

You always need an ####### on the team anyways.

I would take him. People have been on his attitude since the day he came into the OHL but I've never seen it. Perhaps he's got a bit of an ego on him, but that's the same reason someone like PK Subban went in the 2nd round. Its not like he's sabotaging his team or taking stupid penalties.

Pick #34 could be used on other players like : Eric Cornel, Jack Dougherty, Vladimir Kamenev. I'd prefer any of those over Ho-Sang. Lemieux I'd be cool with.

Yeah, this basically sounds completely terrifying for opposition defenders.

Id love to see Lemieux, Cornel or Kamenev at 34 but he would have be able to come over to NA ASAP.

Lemieux sounds like he would fit right in.

Kamenev is working on it. I think the Flames pick @ 34 is right in the middle of the range I think he goes in.

I'm in Windsor - I'm definitely in the minority around here, but I'm not a fan of Ho-Sang at all.

Again, completely baseless but something hasn't been sitting right for a while. He's the exact opposite of Ritchie as a sleeper pick and as Burke said, everyone lies during the draft, reverse phsychology. @4 it could be Nylander and I could live with that. Although I think the uproar would be much stronger through CP.

Still want Draisaitl or Bennett first and foremost personally.
Gaudreau + Nylander (or Ehlers) = Flames' opponents never touching the puck again except to take it out of the back of the net...

(sight over exaggeration...)

Eric Cornel came to the Flames, virtually speaking in my monster 3 rnd mock draft (with commentary and stats of all picks)

***
Intrigued to see Conner Bleackley at the back end of the 1st rnd or early 2nd in plenty of rankings. I think he goes higher. If not, if the FLames somehow land him at 34th it'll be Grand Theft Bleackley!

Terrifying in the same way that Eberle and RNH are terrifying, which is to say not at all.

Can you tell us why? Is it on ice or off ice issues that put you off more?

I think you will need to surround Gaudreau with more beef, a certain German may be suffice? Imagine with Gaudreau's wizardry and Draisaitles ability to protect the puck and create room, and in a decent sized winger with some finish and....glory!

Anyone hear if Monahan gained some weight this summer? Might take a few more years though.

Colbourne, Draistaitle and Gaudreau would be a pretty sweet 2nd or 3rd line. Watched the German/US game and they both struck me as two of the best out there.

We're going to have serious problems if Colborne is on the 2nd line.

He has had some attitude problems for sure, benched once or twice - once sent home in the middle of a game.

He has terrific speed, his offensive awareness is okay. Usually pretty bad puck hog, thinks his speed will get him through five guys almost every time he touches the puck. Always wants to try the flashy moves.

All things that can be fixed at higher level I would hope, but for me, I've just never been a big fan, too much of a project, even with the raw talent.

That depends. I could see something like

Gaudreau - Draisaitl/Reinhart - Poirier
Baertschi - Monahan - Colborne

being a pretty good top 6 when they all round into form a few years down the road.

I really disagree. I thought he started to look really strong the last 25-30 games on the wing. Hopefully he's the 6th best forward out of the top 6, but I think there's a home for him there down the road.

Plus it's nice to have someone else on a line to take draws.
