Video: Johnny Gaudreau - 2014 World Championships Highlights
It makes it even sweeter that his name sounds like a superstar forward that you'll be hearing in highlight reels... "Johnny Gaudreau!!!"

BUMP. Because the 8th time watching that goal vs Germany and it's still one of the nicest goals ANY Flame has scored at ANY level of hockey!

2 immediate thoughts fresh from watching this video.
1. Having to calm my expectations of JG
2. How can we get abdelkader from the red wings. They seem to make beautiful music together.

Was really more of a one way street. Gaudreau was almost banking goals in off Abdelkader in that tournament. Some of Abdelkader's facial expressions were priceless after some of those tallies.
I definitely wouldn't pony up any assets to try and land him. Gaudreau seems to show that kind of chemistry with just about everyone he's paired with.

I'd love to see a Gaudreau - Monahan - Colborne line in training camp or preseason.

With Gaudreau's sorcery over puck physics and Monahan's instinctive nose for finishing, suddenly GreenLantern's prediction of a 50-goal season in Monahan's career doesn't seem so crazy after all.

After watching the video again...
1) Johnny will shoot the puck if he has the chance, unless someone has a better scoring chance; very few Flames players have that ability (maybe Hudler and Giordano)
2) We tend to forget Johnny's skating ability because of his hockey skills with the puck... He skates like the wind, his skating is off the charts, he's so fast.
3) As someone mentioned, I think Johnny can have chemistry with anyone; he's proved it in every league he's been in.
Tempering... Tempering...

Johnny Hockey also scored his first NHL goal in his first NHL game. Gotta love that.

The only player I have ever seen Johnny NOT have chemistry with was Miller in the WJCs. And IMO, that was because Miller was a puck hog who repeatedly carried it over the blueline and took a bad angle shot - he was incapable of utilizing his line-mates.
Other than that, JH makes every player he plays with better

So with that being said.... Who do we pair him with? He can get Jones and Stajan on a groove ... Or if he played on his off wing, he could get Glencross' trade value up .

I am not at all worried about it because this year will just be a development year anyway.
I like Gaudreau with Monahan. But if so, they need a more physical winger than Colborne, IMO. I am hoping that a Smith, Ferland, or Hayes (if we acquire him) can eventually step up into that role.
I really like the idea of Bennett and Poirier together. Klimchuk could be a potential candidate to round out that line perfectly.
Regardless, it's too early to be concerned with who will play with who. We have a few years to figure all that out.

I think you have it confused. Grimaldi was the puck hog who was originally placed on a line with Johnny, until it became evident he wasn't going to give Johnny the puck.
Then the US coach put Miller with Johnny and the line clicked almost instantly and dominated.

I don't have it confused. Yes Grimaldi was a #####show and was also a puck hog. But they eventually got him off the line. And that definitely helped as it immediately resulted in more puck possession for Gaudreau.
Nonetheless, Miller continued to have plays die on his stick over and over. He seemed determined to show scouts how awesome he was and tried to do it all himself.
When JG carried the puck, things happened. When Miller carried the puck, it ended up with him carrying it over the blueline and taking a shot. It was horrible - and I was a fan of Miller prior to that tournament.
Gaudreau's success in that tournament was despite his line-mates IMO, not because of any chemistry.
