A Wrangler would be a terrible choice in this instance. They ride poorly on pavement, are known to be gas-guzzlers, and don't really have much cargo area.

For lots of tools you can't beat a weather guard pack rat. I put one in my truck a year ago and its been fantastic

Its a 50L tank so around $60 these days I guess. Depends how empty you run it.

I was tracking the fuel consumption back in October-December 2012 for a while and I was averaging 20.7-23.8 MPG which actually worked out to be 400-450km's. Might have to see if it's really fallen off that much since then. Might need a quick tune up.

You can really see the amount of cargo space...
