LOL, then I am the king of gross. When I was in my late teens and early 20's, it was all mature, all the time at dives like the Back Alley and City Limits. Nothing will corrupt your naivety than being massacred by a late 30's - mid 40's divorcee with a limp ex-husband, that hadn't been properly serviced in over a decade. I was more interested in the pros, not the amateurs. Just think though, some of those women are in their 60's now....lol.

I think the laws in Canada does not prohibit such relationships unless there is a "position of authority" issue - teacher, coach, etc..
|
Totally the same. Anything else is sexist.

Age is just a lazy substitute for mental and physical state, and an informed decision is determined by information (truism alert), not by age. Wherever you place an age line, it will be wrong for some people.

Slightly less disgusting, and I also had many a night at the Brass Ring, but guess what I was young and made poor decisions......

I have not, and will not ever regret those decisions.
They were a growing experience.

How do you know this? She wasn't in a position of trust and she did not exploit her. What law did she break in Canada?

Sex isn't a horrible emotional event, it is awesome. Sadly, when predator's like this make it into something terrible. IMO, she took advantage of him of a sexual immature individual.

She's an attractive woman who I imagine got the hormones of the 16 year old lad going. To say she took advantage of the lad is debateable given that we don't know how mature the young lad was. Some people mature faster than others.

I find it odd that you choose to use "young" and "lad" when discussing his maturity.

I hate legislating morality to some degree, obviously we have to define the laws and choose an age to criminalize this, however as long as the judges are free to take each unique case and make the best judgement on their own specific merits I'm happy with 16.

If the State has lets say the three strikes rule like California I believe has it, do we accept a triple time violent offender because our sensibilities say that life without parole is cruel and unusual punishment.
Or lets say a terrorist facing a death penalty in a middle eastern country shows up here after bombing the crap out of a market full of kids, do we send him back?
I think that right now the thought of how this effects our relations with the U.S. is irrelevant, frankly our relations with the American's are at the lowest point since Trudeau was in office, and this isn't going to change that.
I do think that in terms of the 30 year old having sex with the 16 year old which is defined as a criminal activity in the states is punishable, but not by 30 years.
But it wasn't too long ago that we had an escaped sexual offender show up in the States and they refused to send him back.

Wasn't he a US citizen that fled back to the US, and Canada didn't feel like extraditing him back?
Anyway, it would be an interesting precendent, if all you had to do was commit a crime in your country that wasn't on the books here to be able to get asylum.

I am comfortable with this, I would add that there would likely have to be a significant punishment that didn't fit the crime in addition to not being on the books here. Whats things are legal here that would be illegal elsewhere that aren't wroth fighting over.
Though if we legalize Marijuana it might change and you might see a lot more people try to do this.

Abusing my celebrity a bit in Iceland, I may have accidentally hooked up with a 20 yr old, and I'm 40.
Disgusting was not the word I'd use for that night.
