LOL...one of the pre concieved notions I had when initially going to Korea was that Id be tall...at 5'11". Everyone in my office is taller than I am with two guys at 6-4. Korean men in general are not short in stature it seems.
Regardless, you should definitely take your friend up on the offer!

Have you checked out the Canadian bar (Rocky Mountain Tavern) in Itaewon? It is a pretty cool place and a good spot to meet fellow Canadians.

I was there for two weeks. Highlights for me:
Ongamenet - 24 hour channel devoted to video games
Bulgogi burger from Lotteria
Korean BBQ
Table-top grilling
Street Toppoki
Hot pot
The bazillion coffee shops
Day trip to JSA/Panmujeon
So basically the highlight for me was the food. Also re: Korean girls (and actually boys for that matter according to my gf) - The ones on TV were amazingly hot, but general population was meh.
Also, yeah you're right. At 5'8 I felt pretty short. Koreans are tall.

Thanks for posting the pictures. It looks cool. How close is it to North Korea and any chance you could snag a (safe) tour of the DMZ? It would be interesting to see the quiet tension going on at the border. I've heard both sides have soldiers that just stare at each other all day

I'm pretty sure I did this tour:

Includes the JSA, the 3rd tunnel, and Dorasan Station. Definitely the highlight of my trip.

Really goofy K-Pop Show but it may give you some ideas for exploration. It talks about food mostly and some K-Pop-y things that you might want to check out if you're bored. Each show they have a topic and make a map to travel to those places. There are 8 shows.
It's probably 75% in English.

Thanks for sharing your pics. Brings back a lot of memories with places that I visited while living there many years ago. I graduated from university, worked for a couple of years to pay off all debt (ie. car, etc), quit my job, and worked as a church missionary for six month many years ago. It was the best six month for me and opened up my eyes for sure.
Hope you have a good time and embrace the culture. I miss enjoying actual three months of each four seasons in Korea. Rather than our winter and construction seasons in Calgary.

In your travels there, just make sure you don't end up in North Korea. They have no Seoul.

I hope you didn't eat a lot of seafood as the pacific ocean is radiated due to the Fukishima disaster years ago.
