Thanks for posting these. I never got to hear them when they originally aired.

Do we still think Vijay Singh "indian" accents and Michelle Wie "Oh Haro" AREN'T incredibly inappropriate?

I don't think the accents were the joke, but otherwise how do you represent Singh or Wie and make them recognizable without an accent?
I miss having Richard's here. It made the morning commute more bearable, unless he was talking about betting on games.
Did he ever do a Kiprusoff / Hasek conference call. That would have been comedy gold.

Well, comedy clubs are the last great frontier. Yes, you can't go to a club and take offense at a standup comedian. But alas, since when is public radio stand up comedy. Just because a bit was funny years ago does not make it appropriate today. Of course, the kipper stuff is not offensive, but the other stuff with racial overtones could NEVER be aired on radio today. There is a reason they DONT get produced anymore. If anyone played Michelle wie on air, it would unequivocally be the last day on the job.
It's tacky, racist, and as you said, not in the confines of a comedy club. I regret having been part of it years ago

No, because I don't get butt-hurt over every single inappropriate thing said out there.
Society has gone way overboard in how it reacts to things like this. Like it or hate it, but let's leave the heavy handed reaction to a real issue.
People say ####.....people can be idiots....move on.
I guess then we should have a lynch-mob to go after Russell Peters.
How dare he poke fun at social/ethic stereotypes.

If you cannot laugh at minorities, who can you laugh at.
It's democratic way.

The trick is not to pick on one minority but all of them, Russell Peters is funny as hell. Even my wife thinks so and she is a minority.

I opened this thread thinking it was the NHL Centre Mike Richards calling Miika for some reason. Then I listened to the sound bite and now I have cancer AIDS because of how bad that was. Seriously terrible attempt at comedy.

Yeah - I never thought the Miika thing funny, but the Steve Armitage bit makes up for everything else.

I was never really offended by anything he did.
I just didn't think any of it was funny.

I don't think it was any more offensive than, say, fat jokes aimed at Dany Heatley.

Haha.....oh Walker.
Don't worry you were a little bit funny too......it is called comedy and last time I checked the channel can be changed.

So what you are saying is he is an entertainer....kind of what part of MR's job was. That's one of the reasons why people listened. But, to take you line of reasoning, there are different rules for different people when it comes to making ethic related jokes.

I thought they were funny when I originally heard them and I still think they are. My wife tells me I have a rather juvenile sense of humour though. Holy crap - some of you sensitive types should hang out in the shop I work in for a day LOL.

To be clear,
Making fun of people's ethnicities = funny
Terrible attempt at impersonating someone = ear cancer
Nothing is worse than bad comedy.
