I agree with EldrickOnIce, the two of you must have lived in strange neighbourhoods. There were fights between Flames and Oilers kids and that went on into the early 90s. Heck during the cup finals in 86 and 89 Flames and Habs fans had skirmishes. My family moved from Alberta to BC in 1993. Then 1994 came along and at school I ended up in shoving matches because I was the enemy wearing my Flames jacket during the Canucks-Flames playoffs. The same thing happened in 1989 at various schools and again in 2004. When the Sonics were in Seattle, there were the same problems when the Sonics and Trailblazers played in the regular season. I recall similar problems during the Sonics-Bulls finals in 1996. Wouldn't want to be going to school wearing a 49ers jersey in Seattle or vice versa. Dodgers-Giants, Yankees-Red Sox, you get the picture.

Yeah but, Rider fan.

In all seriousness though the incident was a mistake, it was corrected and she was allowed at the rally with her horrible Rider gear, being obnoxious the entire time too I'd imagine.

This didn't just happen. The story is from 2012. The girl didn't get in trouble and the school apologized. Why post this?

Rider fans who have lived in Calgary for 22 years and still refuse to cheer on the hometown Stampeders are idiots.

Seem to remember some CFL city forcing a girl wearing a Riders jersey in an assembly to take it off during the playoffs.

Hmmmmmm, who could that have been?

No big deal for her though. They were playing the Stamps so it was about as close to a guaranteed win as you could get

Could it have been the city mentioned three posts before yours?

God damn rider fans can't even read.

Something similar happened to the son of a girl I work with, this past week: her son, whom I think is around 8 or 9, ran up to a girl on the playground at school (she was wearing a Boston t-shirt) and said "Boston sucks!" This was in Montreal.

He has detention all next week, during recess and lunch.

Apparently it has something to do with the school's "anti-bullying" rules.

Everyone is so PC nowadays and afraid to upset others.

You cancel the entire event because of this one minor thing?

On a PC level I get it. Remove conflict and all of that. But seriously. If she had the balls to wear a Boston Jersey to a Montreal school than good on her. She obviously wasn't asking for help.

The school changed this from what was likely a good natured rivalry to everyone hating her for ruining Jersey day.

Similar in that it happened in Montreal and involved the Habs/Bruins series? Because the incident itself isn't even close to being similar to the event in the OP.

One was a school asking someone to remove a shirt then cancelling jersey day. Yours is school yard bullying that resulted in detention.

I don't really see how the 'Boston Sucks' thing is detention worthy.
I would have given the kid(s) who told Eakins he Sucks at least 5 gold stars...
