There are lots of people like this and I basically put them in the same category as if they'd said any other chosen characteristic (like a religious persuasion) instead of "Lawyer". But really, self-reps are the biggest pain in the ass, so telling him to muddle through on his own isn't helping him or anyone else.

I disagree, if someone isn't wrong and is being sued anyways (along with suing virtually anything remotely related to the incident), you bet the right thing to do is countersue.
