I cannot wait to watch the next game he plays in a Flames uniform. He created some good chances and was surprisingly effective at pressuring the D-men on the forecheck. He was credited with one takeaway, but I think he influenced the play a lot with and without the puck in the Canucks zone.
He looked a bit lost in his own zone a couple of times, but as soon as he got the puck or entered the offensive zone he looked like an NHL-level player. I honestly don't think he misplaced a single pass tonight. Good instincts on the goal.
Welcome to the NHL Johnny Hockey!

yeah he moves nearly twice as fast as everyone else. He turned and passed it before a lot of guys can just stop. I can imagine it being really hard to hit him because he can see what's going on so well
I'm disappointed that real Sean Monahan doesn't follow Boring Sean Monahan, but does follow Justin Bieber
Found this one that it was funny
@BoringGaudreau: @boringmonahan thanks for grabbing it I thought one of those Canucks took it at first and I was going to try convince @bigern10 to go get it

Well that didn't take long. Couldn't Gaudreau's at least be different from being "boring"?

Oddly I'm not sure you can move like that if you're 30 lbs heavier. It's kind of an X-Wing in the Death Star trench situation.

Look at all the fastest sprinters in the world, their legs are HUGE. Marathon runners have tiny legs.
Training fast twitch 2a & 2b, which are both prone to hypertrophy will always make you bigger and faster.
When you're training these regardless if you put on additional weight it's pure muscle mass and strength.
You're going to be simply bigger, faster, and stronger, and even more agile because of increased ability to create tension to turn and absorb.
I always cringed when people say getting bigger makes you slower, yes, if you're putting it all on in body fat. The more I lift, the bigger I get, the faster I get. Unless you pass a natural genetic threshold with drugs.

I don't know what this means. But what I'm saying is I haven't seen many skaters who can stop, turn, and accelerate like Johnny was doing tonight. Is that from natural talent or because he's 50+ lbs lighter than most of the guys on the ice? I'm sure it's a combination of both.
What I was saying is that his game has obviously (to me, after one real viewing) evolved to take advantage of his smallness. As long as he's not physically victimized, his game should be effective. He's just quicker than everyone else out there.
It's a weird balance. It's exciting to watch partially because it seems like he could break in half if really leaned on.

Upper body strength could negate lower body strength in terms of speed, couldn't it? Like a guy with big pectorals would be good at squeezing things, but in terms of skating that would just be extra mass, even if it's muscle. I don't think there's too much of a good thing when we're talking about the "skating muscles" though.
Obviously, if the perfect skater is all lower body, he wouldn't actually be much good at hockey. You still need other strength, like for shooting the puck.
