When minorities have more wealth and power than white people, when they systematically murder thousands/millions of white people, when they pay white people less than minorities for the same work, when they ensure that schools in "white neighborhoods" have less funding, when they disproportionately start punishing white people for minor drug offenses, etc, etc, etc. Then I'll worry that reverse racism is actually a major problem in this world.
Until then, I'm going to realize that as a white person, I have a whole lot of really nice privileges that minorities do not.
That's just racism. There's no reverse about it. Just because it's a non-white person doing it doesn't change the definition.
This whole "is it racist or is it not?" conundrum is pure white trash, pardon the pun. Almost 90% of the world population is not white and they are not puzzling themselves with this silly question. Almost 2/3 of the the world population have real problems to solve, i.e. how to feed their families. I think the only true test for racism is negativity. If a generalization is made with a negative connotation, it is racist. "Drunk as an Irish", "Cheap as a Jew" are stupid negative generalization based on race. They are 100% racist, no doubt and you don't need to be overly sensitive or politically correct to know NOT to say these things.
Race-based generalizations that are positive are OK with any reasonable person, I am sure. When I tell my Chinese friends that they are way too smart for Canada and they are taking over Canadian universities, we all have a good laugh and then talk about Asian culture of children upbringing in discipline and respect for parents. I told black guys in my class that we have to split them apart in a basketball match, because it wouldn't be fair for us, white guys that can't jump. Everyone laughed, nobody is offended by a well-intended positive comment.

Your problem is using lame tired unoriginal material.

heres my opinion. There is nothing wrong with refering to a black guy, as black. This is not racist or anything like that. It is simply stating a fact his skin color is black. Nobody takes offense when someone refers to a white guy, as white. But call a black man black and everybody loses theiir mind. It is not hate or racism. This is a case when people are being over sensitive. As someone mentioned in one of the above posts, if racist remarks are said in a joking matter, then it is usually okay, and everybody is alright with it. For example if you make a joke to a black man, about him having an unfair advantage at basketball, they will usually laugh about it. Or make a joke about asians being too smart they laugh about it and nobody takes offense to it. Racism is when a quote about a race, is intended as negative. Oversensitivity is when a quote about a race is said in a positive manner and, everybody gets all sensitive about it. Just my opinion, sorry if that paragraph didnt make much sense.

White trash? Not sure what you are getting at. I am pretty sure this other 2/3rds of the planet is pretty racist, it is not just a 'white' thing. In fact, there are a rather unfortunate and surprisingly high portion of countries that have major issues with racism, with widespread and often state sponsored discrimination. Many people in other countries wish they could be in Canada or the USA simply due to their race.
I don't think you meant to use the term 'generalization', which implies some sort of truth behind what you typed. Although drinking may in fact be something Irish people do, so do many other people (I have no clue of the connection between alcohol and being Irish), but connecting the two together is pretty bad. The Jew comment is simply stupid and based on lies and ignorance, a perpetuation of years of hate speech, in no way is it a generalization of anything.

Although I am sure you are a true comedian, your comments are dumb and can easily be seen as insulting. Swap Asian for Jew in regards to 'taking over' something and you quickly see how these comments can be interpreted in a real bad way. I don't see your comments being positive at all.
Why is it that certain people think only white people are racist, or that white people are the only ones concerned with race sensitivity?
Lack I checked, plenty of people are racist. You don't have to be a certain race to be racist or overly sensitive to it.
If anything, labelling racism or related issues as "white trash" or "white" anything is, in fact, racist. Based on the rest of CaptainYooh's post, it's a funny juxtaposition, but it's that sort of thinking that is the basis of racism, that certain things are a product purely of race rather than individualistic motivation or cultures.
If people want to figure out what constitutes racism, it's simple: If you're being discriminatory towards another race, it's racism, the end.
Referring to a black guy as "that black guy over there" isn't racist. It's all good. If the guy looks like Don Cheadle and you say "the gangster over there" then yeah, that's racist. Not too hard to distinguish.

I remember in one of my sociology classes, there was a big discussion about this. One of the Indian (east) students said that when he sees a white guy with a shaved head, he automatically assumes the guy is a skinhead and racist and won't associate with him. The prof asked him if he thought that thinking that way was not a little racist, and the student replied; "How can I be a racist? I'm not even white!". It turned out he had a lot of supporters in that class that thought the same way.

Racism definitely goes in all directions. Japan has some pretty racist leanings and whites are not leading that country.
I think people have to realize that it is definitely worse for a white person to be racist to a minority in Canada than the other way around though. Because of socio-political/economic issues in the world you can basically sum things up as, "white good".
Making fun of someone for being white is like making fun of someone for being rich. That person really isn't going to be too hurt by the comments if they are being honest with themselves.
The dominant culture should be held to a higher standard as those with the most power have the ability to do the most harm.

I wouldn't say that they are the end-all authority on the matter.
They are basically saying that anti-white behaviour by non-whites isn't "racism" because white people have more power and are higher up the hierarchy. That's complete BS. There are many powerful non-white people in our society that are quite capable of using their power for racial purposes if they wanted. It also ignores that in a country like Canada, there are different hierarchies depending on where you live or where you work (and not all of them have whites at the top).

My links are basically the present day anti racist academic argument across the entire world. So I'd disagree with you there.
People spend way too much time trying to determine what evils they have inadvertently committed. If you're not being hateful or discriminating... who cares.
I have a friend from Denmark who've we've all been calling giraffe killer because of that zoo incident. Danes are clearly in the minority here. But its a joke and no one is being serious about it, so she doesn't take offense. Now if every day I saw her I said... Danes are so stupid because XXXX then I'm being racist.
People have developed an widely overly inflated level of importance of their own actions/activities. If I say 'oh its the black guy down the hall' 99.999% of the world is not going to give it a second thought or even process it.
Like it or not, that is the way the tide is shifting/has shifted in academia. You should try it on for size. The goal is to educate and create an equal society.
