Why would Brantley bother swinging when Santos has spent the last week showing he struggles to throw a strike?

I think with the bases loaded Brantley figured he would get a strike early so he had the green light. The thing that drives me nuts is walking players in the ninth. If they are going to beat you at least make them do it with the bat.

At least we don't have B.J. Ryan anymore. I don't think he could ever make a save without the bases loaded when he was on the Jays.

Having Reyes back is just awesome.

Buehrle is having quite the start to a season as well.

Glowing over Buehrle's start to the season, much less so for our "ace" and McGowan and Morrow.

Anyway, no excuses, no reason with this lineup we cant win 3/5 consistently.

Morrow has been OK so far, he'll be fine. Dickey has looked abysmal though.

Dickey does have a tiny excuse in that the weather has screwed with his pitches a bit. However, if he doesn't turn it around soon, they are screwed.

The Jays will need to look for another "ace" if Dickey doesn't work out.

I don't think that Dickey works for us (or has worked for us); I think that trade is going to bite us in the rear end for a long time. Although I also thought we were getting a #1 or #2 with Josh Johnson, so....

As an aside, any MLB watching type of group or club in Calgary? I don't know, get together and watch a game, chat about baseball stuff, etc? Or is that hoping for too much regarding baseball in Calgary?

^^^After seeing how many Albertans made the trip down to Seattle to see the Jays play last year there definitely are baseball fans out there.

There is a growing interest in baseball in Vancouver too. The Vancouver Canadians are a sell out basically every game now.

Canadians have always done pretty well. While Vancouver proper doesn't have a whole lot going on, Coquitlam, New West, Langley etc. are all huge baseball communities.

Getting really tired of this team's pitching.

Absolutely no killer instinct in them at all, and this goes back years. Possible sweep game? Mail it in. Every single time.

At least if they do decide to blow it up, they'll have a good opportunity to rebuild with two top 11 picks and a bunch of very sellable assets.

I'm getting tired of this middle of the road bs that we've put up with since 1993. Either go in whole hog or just suck.

Ah the conflicting world of up and down rebuilds and shots at success for the Jays organization.

We tried to rebuild a few years ago and acquired a bunch of blue chip prospects and actually had a number of the top prospects in the game in Lansing and New Hampshire.

Then AA said, "screw it, we're going for it", and sold the farm and our record actually got worse.

It really sucks to be a Jays fan. I just want to see one playoff game before I die. I'm seriously concerned that it may not happen.

Couple of good series wins on the road for the Jays and a great game tonight to start an important home stand.

Dickey was cruising, and much like last year cruised until he started to unravel a bit in the 6th and 7th innings.

Bautista has looked very very good so far. Pitchers are not pitching to him and he's been getting walked like crazy, and when they do pitch him he is making them pay.

Brett Cecil hasn't lost any of his mojo from last year.

Fairly impressed with the Jays so far.

Biggest surprise for me so far has been Melky Cabrera. The guy is clearly a natural hitter, but with so many distractions last year I wasnt sure if he would be any kind of contributing factor this season. He lost a good bit of weight, started strong and has been tearing it up since. I hope his knees hold up, without him, Bautista, and Beurhle this team would not be holding their heads above water.

I am never a big fan of getting Dickey. Maybe because I am not a big fan of a knuckleballer as I feel that once the pitcher's knuckleball pitch, he's got nothing else. I hated watching Tim Wakefield before and the game just bores me death whenever he was pitching. You are right if Dickey doesn't turn it around the Jays will be at the bottom or close to the bottom. Thank god the bullpen played well yesterday and saved his behind.

Key for the Jays this year is the Starters need to stay healthy. Once the warm weather kick's in Dickey will improve.....

Personally, I would like the batting average to increase..... Still way to many players that are struggling.
