It was just a comparison . monohan and colborne can be them selves. Its not uncommon to compare player types. Your right they won't be getzlaf and Perry tho. They got lots to prove still.

Exciting game from start to finish. This team once again proves it can skate with the best of them.

McGrattan with the goal scorer's goal! Nice to see him break some personal records this season.
Wotherspoon - he made some mistakes, but to me, he is progressing similar to Brodie. Great skater and usually makes smart plays at both ends of the ice.
Ramo is steady.
Monahan is snake-bitten at the moment, but getting his chances. You just know once he pots in his 20th, the next couple will come very quick.
Colborne just continues to impress. He is still fairly thin, but he already does such a wonderful job along the boards.

You can almost feel that this team has a pretty decent 'base' to it. They are competitive even with the losses. If the existing players just mature and continue developing, they will rise in the standings. That seems like a very comforting thought to me. With the next couple of drafts (and a few prospects still playing junior/AHL), there will be a good injection of talent to this base. It tends to make you optimistic - though there will still be some growing pains in the next couple of seasons.

Win or lose, this team is definitely an entertaining team to watch, and is very respectable in all areas of the ice!

Was at the game. Lots of chances but the bounces weren't there and the players weren't in the right slots to capitalize on the bounces we did get.

Seemed a bit quiet. No powerplays for the Flames. Good crowd support at the end.

Good send off to Teemu (who the Flames signed to an offer sheet before the Jets matched). He came on the ice and waved to the crowd. Didn't see much flash from him however.

Colborne was amazing. Looked like Big Joe out there.

Yep, Colborne looks more and more like a Joe we're all too familiar with over the years. He seems very comfortable along the boards and sees guys in the slot/at the point/or down low again. I'm really starting to like his game. He can finish too, as we saw last game. I won't make any stats projections, but I think he can be a very good top 6 winger in this organization.

Will be a very nice complement for Gaudreau/Poirier/Klimchuk going forward. There are others to throw in like perhaps Ferland and Baertschi. Granlund centering and who knows what other center we draft. It's pretty darn intriguing. When taken in context of this game, I really am happy overall.

We're climbing. Not in the NHL ranks, but faster than the average onlooker may think. I think we could take more teams by surprise after next season. Not 2014-15, but after that. I won't digress any further. I'll leave that for the Oilerz to do.

I just think it's a perfect storm in this iteration of the rebuild. Veterans who know how to compete feeding that to the youngsters. They don't take long to learn (IQ, character).

It feeds. It grows. Don't know why I keep thinking Metallica with that. Maybe someone can help. Haha

"If you look at the young guys throughout the year, how they're showing up against these teams late in the year when we're playing San Jose, L.A., Anaheim — we're playing all these top teams down the stretch and we're giving them a run for the money every night. That's a lot to build off of as a group and it's a lot to learn from," said McGrattan.

"It's a good effort. We know we can play with every team in the league but it's not good enough — a good effort, we have to get results too. That's the business of hockey," said Ramo, who had won his previous five decisions.

My dream end to this season is to knock the Canucks out of the playoffs.

Congratulations to Brian McGrattan on his 300th game, celebrating with a goal!

Wotherspoon now only 3 points behind Erixson despite playing less than a quarter of the games! Impressive amount of confidence showing from the young guy.

Monahan and Colborne had a stellar game, and especially first period, in the offensive zone. Controlled the play for entire shifts and deserved much better than their -2 fate. Some physical strength added to both would only increase their dominance along the boards for next season.

Backlund line and Gio/Brodie with yet another stellar performance, ho hum.

I've really been thinking that Hudler and Stajan aren't a great fit together. Jiri is obviously a very creative player, and it seems to me that Stajan is getting away from his own game to try and match it. I can recall examples of Stajan (and Glencross, for that matter) trying to make one-touch give-and-gos and drop passes with Hudler, most of the them ending up with a broken play.

If I were Hartley, I'd put Bouma with Stajan and Glencross and try putting Hudler back with Monahan. We saw early in the season how Sean can benefit from Jiri's creativity. That would also allow Bouma/Stajan/Glencross to be a true shut-down line.

Now I believe the answer is in the "dressing room". Great pace and exciting game. You won't see this hype in Sutter hockey

Sutter's been gone for years. What's the point in continuing to whine about it now?

Amazingly entertaining game. Flames did not look out of place in any period.
Flames 4th line is pretty damn good lol.

Thought Wotherspoon played okay. Got schooled a couple a times by the Getzlaf Perry line, but hopefully learns from his mistakes.

Thought a couple of times Flames tried to make one too many passes when a shot was available.

If they keep playing like this Flames might end up picking lower than where Monahan was picked!

was at the game, 1st row seats next to the penalty boxes, frigin amazing!

Glencross got face smashed right into the boards infront of us, the jackman/westgarth fight right in front of us, and i left the dome with a puck that landed right at my feet over the glass in the 3rd.

It was weird having players you watch so much looking you right in the eye before the faceoffs, etc. It was a great experience.
