I've seen Mcgrattan's training and he trains mma and boxing, his fighting right now is on such a higher level than pretty much everyone that no one wants to fight him. He was sitting on Hiller's head and no one would do anything, if that was Camalleri they'd be trying to kill him but Mcgrattan is feared by all.

The part I really liked was though he did crash the net, he also seemed to do his very best to not injure Hillier. That is one of the reasons he carries so much respect in the league.

that's true, he could pretty much injure anyone he wants but he never does. Even in his fights he has obviously taken it easy on the opponent, when he could have left them out cold he just lets them punch themselves out sometimes.

He also seems to make sure that they don't smash their head on the ice as well. I was really angry seeing Gazdic in that fight against Westgarth where he didn't pay that respect back, when McGrattan did in their fight.

5 years sober too , a class act, taps his opponents on the head after a good bout, no dirty hits, cheap shots , stops punching when his opponent is ko'd or down. Love the guy and so proud to have got him on the back of my jersey!

If the flames are in a cap floor problem in a years time (not likely) I wouldn't be opposed (as another poster suggested) giving ern a 1yr 5m contract. Kind of a reward for services rendered and a heads up to the kids about respect to a vet.

5m pushing it, but what's funny is that's still a better contract than David Clarkson

That guy is in the same Facebook group as me - NHL fans in the UK. I don't know him personally but he is a monster Flames fan. Mind you the tat kind of gives it away!
His room seems to have all the Flames memorabilia that has ever existed. If something was irretrievably lost in the flood, its a fair bet he has a copy of it.
The people in that group sure keep some irregular hours. Mind you I can't talk, I landed in Calgary this evening, watched the game on TV and am still posting at 3:45 am.
Fricken jet lag.
As for Big Ern. I agree, he is the glue in the locker room. I love what he brings to the team and I love to see the genuine joy on his face when he gets a goal. I love the way this team plays - heart and hard work all the time. And nobody has a bigger heart or works harder that Grats.
What a great guy to have your back!

He needs to stay for sure. A true leader on this team and an awesome example for our prospects. That salute to the fans in his first game back with the Flames is what made me a fan of McGrattan. So happy he's back.

I like the idea of having him wear an A for a game - perhaps the season ender against Vancovuer? Ultimately though, McGrattan is a good example of how team leaders operate independent of who wears the letters.
Career highs in games played, goals, assists and points this year.

anyone else ever notice how Big Ern glares up and down the bench before the puck drops and yells lets go boys.
I love the fact that he might only see 7 min a game of ice time but he understands his role and offers so much more than that.

I'm going to the last home game against the jets and I'm hoping for it to go to a shootout and McGrattan gets the call. He dome would go nuts if he scored!!!

Brian McGrattan doesnt shave because his beard keeps breaking his razorblades.

Are we just going to switch out Chuck Norris jokes and replace him with McGrattan? Because that'd be funny!

Brian McGrattan can start a fire by rubbing two ice cubes together.
