In Sk you can use your old plate for 7 days but only if you sold the vehicle that it came off of. ie trade in at a dealer on Saturday, swap plates, transfer on Monday.
To the OP, sad to hear, I have taken this chance many times and been lucky. In hindsite, a $150 package policy is cheap insurance. I can't see the pics, maybe you can recover some $ by selling what's left. Corvettes have some pricey parts underneath, and the motor and drivetrain parts can survive moderate fire damage.
