Just wondering, but do junior teams have counseling and career services for players that aren't good enough to go pro? I imagine it is a devastating realization for a young adult when they know they aren't on the path that everyone thought or hoped they would be. These kids often get built up so high, that the fall is bigger than what a 20 year should experience.

I think you are over estimating the fall. Its not like it happens over night. Once you are 20, you've been bypassed in the draft a few times and in most cases haven't received an NHL camp/rookie camp invite... you know what is happening. If you really wanted to any junior hockey player could continue on playing hockey somewhere - even if you can't get into a CIS school there are lower level pro teams that will take on these players.
There are tons of issues with junior hockey - should we really be trading 16/17 year old kids from one city to another in the middle of a hockey season, cheering on teenagers while they fight, the ridiculously low return the players get for the money they generate for the team, how the coaches/teams treat players, etc. But its not something that is going to drive you to suicide unless you have underlying mental health issues.
