^^ Good post McG.
And if the league really would have done its job properly, retribution would at least be mitigated. But the problem is exascerbated when a coach (Tortorella) is all up in arms and beside himself when the major and game misconduct was called.
It sends a message to guys like Kassian that the call was indeed defendable and it was shown by him throwing his bucket on the ice. Why did he get all upset? I'd say partly because he is actually encouraged by his coach (employer) to repeat it and hey, he knows he has a role to play and wants to keep his job. I'd say that that trumps the little slap he got.
It really isn't worth handing out a small suspension when by the time he comes back, somebody else may fare off much worse, thanks to that clown.
It really doesn't look good on Torts. He's besaically saying in defending him and being upset about the call: 'you didn't deserve that. Break his neck next time, Killer!'
What a garbage organization.
