Great move by the Habs. Vanek should fit in nicely there.
Good sized skilled player is more reward than risk based on what they traded away.
Habs fans should be quite happy.

FOR

Their pick this year is top 10 protected. So they will be keeping it most likely. So the 1st rounder reverts to 2015.
We have no idea if their 2015 1st rounder will be a top 10 pick, none of us knows the future.

I'm pretty sure Snow's days are numbered. He might have gotten a stay of execution if he had flipped Vanek for something marginal, but this can't be enough to keep your job.

I've been arguing this point for a while now, but this is one of the few times that there's a direct comparison - there's no truth to the often-repeated idea that sellers can get more at the deadline than earlier in the season.

snow should be removed from any kind of management at the nhl level soon. He's taking a franchise that has been brutal for decades and somehow making them worse.
I feel bad for whatever fans they had left. What an epic failure this season has been, on basically every level, after last year's playoff berth, it's like 2 steps forward 5 steps back.
