Not sure Bryz is as bad as some of you think. He didn't look horrible for the Oilers which is a pretty big accomplishment by itself considering he was behind the worst defense in the league. The difference between Bryz and Halak probably wasn't worth the difference in their price differences.

Very true. Put Bryz behind a defensive system in Minnesota and see what he can do.

Dump Smid to sign Bryz only to get a 4th for him in return (in addition to Brossiot and Horak)

It was an okay rebuilding move. Just strange considering it was a month or two into a season where they weren't supposed to be rebuilding.

Yeah but there's no expectations playing for the Oilers. He suited up every night knowing they were probably going to lose and it wouldn't be on his shoulders. The Wild have expectations and this guy seems to play his worst when the games count.

Looking at it now, I think the Wild's goaltending needs were getting someone who could at least back up Kuemper or else possibly play tandem with him for the remainder of the season. In this they'd improve their changes of at least making the playoffs which is about as far as their expectations probably go as of now.

At least they can sit back in the summer and see where things are at with Harding as he's definitely capable when healthy. Pretty sure they're done with Backstrom at this point.

Fletcher had been talking to Buffalo about Halak, but the price would have been a prospect and/or draft pick. Also, Bryzgalov is much cheaper, so theoretically, this gives Fletcher the opportunity to make more moves by Wednesday's 2 p.m. trade deadline if he so wants. The Wild can add roughly $3 million in players without giving up salary.
