Just going off memory, but I believe the US offered to incarcerate him last time to help prevent him from escaping. Maybe they take the offer this time.

Since when did Mexico extradite criminals to the US? I thought that was the whole dream of being a Non-Extraditional country?
Is it now just a regular extraditional country? I might need a list.

The Mexicans arnt going let him anywhere near the U.S. One of the most corrupt governments in the world isn't going to want him selling every last one of them out for change of identity and a 7/11 in Portland.

There is literally no reason for this guy to continue living. How many more people have to die just so this tyrant can continue running his cartel? He paid off an entire prison TWICE to escape. I'm not a fan of criminals being extradited to the USA, but in this case it's absolutely necessary. The mexican justice system cannot be trusted. Guaranteed he'll escape a 3rd time.
I hope the US is pushing for his extradition, and hard. Even locked up in a mexican jail, he has the entire prison under his control. Access to cell phones. Prostitutes visiting. The whole staff under his payroll. Man, just shoot the guy.

El Chapo is obviously a bad guy who is responsible for a lot of suffering. Surely, he just gets replaced in his organization and things just keep chugging along in the cartel world?

I wonder if Mexico remembers this?

Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman would be extradited to the United States if he happens to be caught again, under a Mexican court order announced by authorities.

Mexico will extradite. (and some weird info on how they found him).
http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/09/americ...ico/index.html
Quote:
Mexico will begin proceedings to extradite two-time prison escapee Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman to the United States, where he faces drug trafficking charges connected to his cartel, the Mexican attorney general said Saturday.
"Since Guzman Loera has been recaptured, the beginning of the extradition proceedings should begin," the attorney general's office said in statement.
Mexican Attorney General Arely Gomez noted how the U.S. government sought Guzman's extradition as early as June 16 last year, before he escaped for a second time from a Mexican prison in July.
The announcement settles a big question surrounding Guzman since Mexican authorities recaptured him on Friday: Would Mexico try to imprison the notoriously elusive kingpin for a third time -- and risk further international embarrassment if he were to escape again? The answer is no.
|
Quote:
While on the run the past six months, the notorious outlaw thought about one thing: a movie about himself.
It amounted to hubris -- his vanity helped authorities in recapturing him.
Police and the military successfully hunted down Guzman and his henchmen this week partly because he or his representatives contacted filmmakers about making an El Chapo biopic, Attorney General Gomez said.
"Another important aspect that allowed us to pinpoint his location was having discovered Guzman Loera's intention to film a biographical movie through establishing communication with actors and producers, which formed a new line of investigation," Gomez said.
Hollywood will likely make a movie or even a series about El Chapo, as it has about other drug lords, such as Colombia's Pablo Escobar in "Narcos."

Apparently not long. Reports in the last few minutes say Mexico is telling the U.S. they can have him.
Edit: CNN's headline was misleading, my bad. Extradition process has begun.

There's no doubt that he will probably end up going to one of the American Super Max prisons.
Probably ADX in Florence
They are almost impossible to escape from. The prisoners don't see or talk to other prisoners ever, they are locked down 23 hours a day and their 1 hour of rec time is in a 10 foot pit that segregates prisoners..
Every cell is self contained and made of poured concrete. Unlike other prisoners there is no shared shower facility, its in the cell and on a timer so they can't flood their cells.
Its basically designed to house prisoners, its not designed to care about rehabilitation or reintegration into society, but most of the prisoners there are the worst of the worst. Terrorists, gang leaders, cartel leaders that are never getting out unless they live a seriously long life.
There's limited to no communication with the outside world, even family videos are via closed circuit TV. There's no conjugal visit rights or anything like that.
El Chapo will be escorted through the front door and locked in his cell and when the door slides shut it will be his coffin.

Its the worst of the worst prison, but the supermax is the safest place for a corrections officer to work.

One would think that 'Maximum Security' would be the highest level of security. This is obviously due to the erroneous use of the term 'Maximum' which at least implies 'as high/secure as it gets.'
But no. The US had to Supersize it.
Thanks Obama!

There are probably mega super max prisons out there where america has discovered the secret of carbonite freezing and its at the bottom of the ocean guarded by genetically altered shark men guards.
Its where they hold Cobra Commander, Destro, and they have a spot reserved for Justin Bieber and the Wayan brothers.
