Swiss are pushing back. 2-1 for Latvia now.
Cervenka with 2 goals in the game. 4-0 for the Czechs.

No shutout for Slovakia. Hossa finally gets his first goal in Sochi.

He was on crazy blood-thinners & recovering from a near-fatal illness... Cervenka always looked slow & weak when he was here & I can't help but wonder if he was just incredibly unlucky with the timing of all that. Nice to see he can actually play hockey!

Yeah think it was really just a bad circumstance for him.
Supposed to come to Calgary, but then there is the lockout so returns to play in the Czech Republic. Misses a ton of time due to the blood clot and the illness. Misses the NHL training camp and the first couple weeks of the season.
Was never back to game shape and it showed in his skating and strength. Especially with the compressed schedule due to the lockout he really didn't have a shot.
I think if he was to re-sign with the NHL and had a proper NHL training regime in the offseason and got in a real training camp he would be able to be a good second liner. He has the skill to play and it always shows in the international tournaments.

Watching the swiss game in French...seems odd they wouldn't throw it on sportsnet or something
Why not have all games available? they have 8 channels

Cant believe the Swiss are looking for their 4th goal of the tournament.
If they knew their team was this starved for offense, you would think that Baertschi would have been considered, although I think him being in Abbotsford is probably best right now.

That part of his game wasn't really the problem with the Flames. He showed a decent amount of offensive flair. It's the other aspects of the game that were the problem.
Even then, I wouldn't have had a problem with bringing him back this year, but obviously he was able to make more money in Russia.
I think things would have been different for him if he had been able to have a full training camp, and bring his wife over at the start of the season (she was too pregnant to travel by the time the season started), and not gone through the injury troubles.
If he had come back, the Flames probably wouldn't have gotten Galiardi. Even with his struggles last year, he had a better season than Galiardi has had this year.

Two quick goals early in the third for Slovakia. We have a game now.
4-3 Czechs.

Lots of time left for the Slovaks.

Slovaks score two more. 4-3.
If Marincin didn't play for Slovakia, they might be ahead.

He did show that sometimes. He had some breakaway goals and showed very sweet hands. Unfortunately he was also a mediocre skater, soft and wasn't great on defense.
