I've been riding for 7 years now, first bike was a 98 Kawi ninja 500 but I wanted something that I could take on longer rips and still have the look of a cruiser. I switched to a Boulevard M50 3 years ago and I love it, enough power and comfortable for any passengers. I always go to Pro-Am motorsports for any maintenance, I find their prices to be far better than Blackfoot. As far as gear goes, I'll only deal with Ali from stampede boot co, he sold me $250 saddlebags (tag price) for $140. I've spent far too much money there haha.

@ strombad Based on an earlier recommendation I would try the old motorcycle shop
There is an old Honda that is cool looking in a hipster sort of way

I was hoping to find something in a similar style/look to a 1950 Indian Warrior, that I can spend some time working on and restoring in the garage.
Anybody have any good suggestions on what sort of bike to look for (under a couple grand for sure) and any places in Calgary that are good to go for ordering replacement parts and that sort of thing?

You'll bury yourself in a project bike. Especially if it is older vintage. The problem with older bikes, is they typically require a lot of mechanical work, parts can be near impossible to find, and you better know what the F you are doing, as something breaking on the highway can cost you your life.
If you like the old Indian look, look for a Kawasaki VN800 Drifter. They can be found pretty cheap sometimes, as they have a pretty limited following. Under 5k should be no issue, and parts are off the shelf ready at any Kawi dealer. Guys have done some awesome builds using that platform.

Cool thread . I have 2 one offs. The only way to go is hand build it yourself. One is a panhead with a air shock girder the other 1 is a late 60's shovelhead with wide wishbone springers.

Sportsters any year. Plenty of parts kicking around . easy to cut and modify. Throw a springer good as gold. Nice relaxed seating postion.

I nominate Bragg Creek as the starting point for a CP ride meet up this summer
Anyone else have an adventure or dual purpose bike?
