I'm pretty sure most teams don't care what the players do on their time off. The players are professionals and know they need to be in shape when games resume. A week off followed by a week of training seems perfectly fine to me before the break ends.

McGrattan has been sober for 5 years. He isn't competing in any "beer-lympics".

Why? Since when were rest and relaxation a bad thing for a high performance athlete. These guys are going all season long, and the body actually benefits from time off. We are talking about a week, not a month.

Weeks off from training are actually part of most high performance athletes training plans and schedules.

They are not your little entertainment robots and do not answer to you, and are entitled to vacations like anyone else.

IMO, Michelle is far too intelligent to regard as your standard puckbunny. She is hot enough to be, but just talk to her and you'll have instant respect.

Wow, stirring up a lot of noise with a little off-hand joke comment. Folks need to lighten up around here. Please disregard and go back to the in depth analysis of Shane O'Brien's contract situation.

I think his comment was more about looking the part, not actually 'doing' the part. Pretty easy to distinguish.

Something to remember, Bouma and Colborne are not yet locks in the lineup. If they come back out of shape and play poorly, they could be in the pressbox. They are professionals and know what could be at stake if their fitness levels drop.

Yeah, I am sure that they both know better than to just let themselves completely go for 2.5 weeks.

He also doesn't "look" like the type who is the proud owner of two tiny puppies with their own instagram account. What's your point?

What's the big deal with the players going on vacation during the olympic break?

If all they're going to do is rest their bodies and hit the gym a few times, what difference does it make if that happens in Calgary or Maui/Cabo/etc.? Just cause they took a plane ride somewhere doesn't mean they're drinking or partying any more or less than they would if they chose to stay in Calgary.

I always think its a little naive to think that players dont even have a few drinks during the season because they have to be giving 110% all the time.

I know this isnt the 70s or 80s 'beer in the lockerroom after the game' type culture, but come on people, these guys are humans and they're rich and have a 2 week holiday.

Its unlikely they're out in Cabo getting blitzed every night for 2 weeks, but they're probably doing the same thing any of us would do in their position.

Except me. I get blitzed. And I have never, ever seen the inside of a resort's gymnasium. But I'm lazy.

Huh. Didn't know he had a drinking problem. Doesn't really matter, I was talking about taking a break in general and not keeping fit. It was also a contextual response to another poster and it was pretty obvious.

Well, for one thing, I don't actively go searching out pictures of McGrattan, so I don't really care what he is or isn't. I've got better things to worry about, so what's YOUR point?
