I felt like a diehard Oilers fan tonight. I want the Oilers to win because I want the Flames to have a better draft pick. And, I just really REALLY HATE the Canucks.

Problem is that's the kind of move you make when you're a Cup contender adding that final piece.
Instead Perron's nice season will go to waste and the Oilers give away two first round picks (with the 2nd probably being 30th overall).
Ah well. Hopefully Perron pushes the Oilers past the Flames in the standings by seasons end and they have to settle for a guy like William Nylander in the draft.

Oilers snap a 7-game winless skid on the road with their 2nd win in 22 games against a top 9 Western Conference opponent.

Agreed. I don't smoke, but I figure lighting up would have been the best way to finish off that game.

I think Burrows' contract turning into an albatross would be hilarious. The dude is a hot mess this year.

Fourth time all season that the Oilers have won two in a row. One more win and they tie their season high 3-game win streak from the heady days of late November 2013. It was also their 12th regulation win in 55 games, and only their third regulation win in their last fifteen.

Also, it was the first time all season they've prevented a Pacific Division team that wasn't the Flames from getting two points.

These are one of those games where you feel dirty cheering for a team, Oilers-Canucks. Well it was hilarious listening to the Canucks fans spazzing out after this 4-2 loss on the radio. Another loss for Loserongo before the Olympics, LOL. Another LOL was when a few hats made it to the ice when Perron scored his hattrick. The Kings win against their state rival 1-0 over the Sharks in reg time. Quick gets the 23 save SHUTOUT while Stalock's shutout streak came to an end when Kopitar scored the lone goal late in the 2nd period. It was a tight defensive game. The Avs win 4-3 in reg time against the Stars. Tanguay scores the winner early in the 3rd period. Varlamov was the main reason the Avs won as he faced 44 shots and his team stays within striking distance of the Bhawks and Blues for 1st in the division. Fleury gets the 24 save SHUTOUT in the Penguins 3-0 over the Sabres. Crosby with 2 points. Canada's 3 goalies are not looking good and I gotta say that Fleury should have been put on the Olympic team. The Bruins win 5-3 over the Islanders. The teams kept alternating goals with the Bruins always going ahead by 1 until the Bruins made it 5-3. Nabokov was on the bench for the Isles, look for him to start next game. The best game had the BJs holding a 2-0 lead going into the 3rd period. A little more than halfway through, the Hurricanes blew them out of the building quickly. The Staal brothers put on a show by scoring 3 goals in just under 3 minutes and won the game 3-2 in reg time. Heartbreaker for the BJs.

Stupid oilers ruining their draft spot
Stupid nucks losing to the oilers
I am proud of Canuck fans though, they just lost to the oilers and there haven't been any fires reported. Baby steps

At this point in time it looks downright terrible. I sure hope with all the stars at every other position they can make one of the three goalies look good.

Any more of a concern that Henrik Lundqvists play lately?
He is the only option for Sweden and has been pretty terrible so far all year, not just lately.
Price and Luongo still looking better than anything the Russians have in net.
Only US and Finland look to have better goaltending going into the tournament and those teams need it because their skaters are much, much worse than Canada or Sweden.
A lot is made of Canada's goaltending but Sweden seems to get a pass just because Lundqvist player on international ice before.

Crawford has played worse than Price and Luongo this year and has zero International experience. He isn't going to help the goaltending situation if he is on the roster.

There are some major depth problems with the Canucks, on top of that the offense that they used to get from their blue line is gone.
They've gone from being a very good regular season team to a stunningly average team at best with depth issues.
One of the Sportsnet panelists was saying that this was the year that the Canucks have to make a big move and pay any price to get Andrew Ladd out of Winnipeg.
To do that the Canucks would have to empty out their already pretty empty prospect cupboard so I would welcome the Canucks making a big move and killing their future in a vain attempt to get through teams like the Hawks and the Ducks and the Kings.

I am not sure how close/good guys like Corrado or Jensen are but I would think if Gillis had the stones to do it this would be a good year to do a mini-rebuild/tool.
The teams at the top of the West are so strong hard to see any moves the Canucks could make that would have them beating them. They are stuck with the Sisters for the next 3-4 years?
If they move a few pieces for close to NHL prospects and shed some salary perhaps they can get the cap space needed or piece to add that secondary scoring they need.
Adding pieces like Ladd for the cost they will be seems like they are dragging out this stage of mediocrity (5-10th place finishes) and making the rebuild in 3-4 years one that is going be a Oiler/Flame level.
That said not sure who they can move that would get a big return as the Sisters, Kelser, Luongo are guys they would want going forward. Edler seems to be the obvious choice to get back a decent return although not sure what he brings now.

I think a move of Edler for a good forward signed beyond this year makes sense for Van. Edler won't get you Ladd, but they could use a good third line centre (move Richardson to the 4th line) or a winger to play with the Sedins
They can't go for a rental because I think they realize that they would have to run the gauntlet to do anything in playoffs this year. Chicago in the first round then probably a California team in the 2nd round? Not gunna happen for them
