He's on an absolute tear right now, 8G 14A in his last 17 games.

After another one of his famous slow starts at the beginning of the season.
If he keeps up this pace, he could be Boston's leading scorer by the end of the season.

What exactly is it about Iginla that makes him such a slow starter? I'd be curious to know, there has to be some psychological reason behind something that happens so frequently.

I have speculated that he works out too hard in the summer, and his body does not recover for months.

Has anybody watched him play more than a few times? Is he back to a version of his old self? Or is he just adjusting to what he is now and playing on a good team?

I've watched him a few times, he's definitely looking extremely comfortable with his new line mates now, I think he compliments them very well. In my opinion he plays a similar game to Horton and his line mates haven't had to adjust their style of play all that much because of that.

I've watched all of the boston games this year and iginla has been awesome all season... He's been a perfect fit on that line and is actually a big upgrade from Horton. His puck possession, forecheck, and ability to win battles has been a major factor as to why Lucic and Krejci are having one of their best seasons. That line is so dominant that I would put it up against any other line in the NHL right now. Plus I think he's looking a little faster this year.
Honestly, iginla plays the most mistake-free game on that line. Lucic sometimes shoots when he should pass and Krejci does the opposite sometimes. Iginla could easily have 30 goals already this year if those two didn't make mistakes like that but the line for the most part is very, very good. Iginla is making the right plays all the time and is playing a solid 200 foot game again. Very happy for him and I hope he brings home the cup this year.

He's tied for goal lead on the Bruins right now. That's impressive.
He needs 9 goals in 16 games...
I vote yes

He's only 2nd in points on the B's as well and only 4 behind. Color me surprised.

I can see Iggy going on one of his tears and finishing the season with 30 goals and 70 points. God that would be sweet.

I would love to see Iggy get 30 but more importantly I would like to see him win a cup so I can stop worrying whether he will before he retires. Go Bruins!

Iginla winning a cup before he retires has got to be close to the bottom of my list of hopes but saying that I can see the Bruins winning after the big Western teams beat each other up so badly, that they are worn out for the finals.

Goal #22 this afternoon, and he takes the Bruins' team lead in goals scored.

Iginla/Lucic/Krejci are great together.
Really happy for Iggy.

I have watched almost all the Bruins games this season on the NHL network. Lucic/Krejci/Iginla were ok at the start of the season, but have really evolved into one of the more dangerous lines in the NHL. All three of them have 50+ points at the moment, and Iginla has 23 goals which leading the Bruins team. Boston might have as many as seven 20 goal scorers this season.
Currently:
Iginla:23
Lucic:21
Marchand: 21
Bergeron: 19
Smith:18
Krejci: 16
Chara: 16
Torey Krug scored his 14th tonight, but I doubt he makes it 20. That would be crazy to have two 20 goal defenseman.
Anyways, I think Iginla finishes with 31 goals. With 15 games left he needs 7 to get 30. Thats doable, but he needs to stay hot. I hope he does, that would be awesome.
There is no way Boston doesn't extend Iginla after this season. He has helped revive Lucic after he scored only 7 goals last season. They really do have a great line.
I really hope Boston can win the Cup. Would be amazing to see Iggy hoist that thing.

I think Iggy wins the cup, refuses a contract extension, and then signs a 4 year retirement deal with the Flames.
and then I wake up.

Man that would be sweet. I could more realistically see iginla win the cup this year, sign a 3 year deal with boston, and then return to Calgary for his final season or two when the flames are back to being a contender. Iginla would fill the role that Recchi did with the bruins when they won the cup. He helps the flames win a cup and retires lanny macdonald style. A statue of iginla is put up in front of the new flames stadium.

I would love to see a Statue of Iginla put up in front of the new rink. He would have to come back in that fashion though for that to happen. Love the idea...Might be a reach haha
