I have little problem with Katz in this.

The team and this situation has been like this for 3 or 4 years (longer, but for the sake of argument, ever since getting the #1 picks)....it's just not gotten to this level of PR nightmare because Oilers fans sat and took it and them and the media took all the fables Lowe and Laforge spewed in controlling the message.

Now through the magic of Facebook, some faction starts to do something localized about it, and gets more vocal about things.

Lowe's reaction to run away and hide is the problem. Such as it is, he's letting the inmates take over the asylum (yes, they may do a better job). It will also put all the heat back on MacTavish and Eakins.

He has to pull the team out of the hole there is, and he should've been worried about that, and not been so arrogant, this last half decade. Now he jumps (to go run and hide) when some fans finally out yell the organizational-controlled media and newly hired PR firm.

Time to really crack down, and kick more paying customers out of the building.

This really needs to see some leadership from a major national news outlet to call out the Oilers in all seriousness. Not a fake inquiry, but an all out fact finding devastation.

Too many guys are trying to play nice to get a scoop, and it does nothing for the sport.

I think it's all PR to placate the masses and make K Lowe look like he's tried to do the noble thing, but Katz would have none of it. It's easier for management if Katz appears at fault for something because he's never there.

In other words, I don't believe any of what Friedman reported actually happened. Just a bunch more cooked up BS from Mr. Smoke & Mr. Mirrors.

I just love how Mac-T and Lowe are off scouting Boston and Philly. Oh sure this is Mac-T's team as long as he clears everything with big Kevy.

The problem with the organization is the structure. The GM position is there to fetch coffee, polish shoes and Iron the Presidents pants while he goes about the business of running the hockey side of that team.

A guy with an ego like Kowe's was never going to give up having his hands in the GM bucket, his promotion was for show, he's running the team from the shadows.

The optics of Kevin Lowe looking over Mac-T's shoulder after all of Katz's bs about this being Mac-T's team is stunning in its utter stupidity.

But they just can't help it, they clearly snicker, know gufaaw winning.

If this indeed is true, interesting to see Katz deny Lowe.

Lowe is at the moment exactly where he should be - at the head of this mess, and accountable for everything that has gone on since he was in charge. There is no temporary leave of absences when you make a mess this big. You either bear the frustrations of the masses and do your best to fix it, or you get terminated. To me, it looks more and more like Lowe is actually running out of time in the organization, and he will be terminated.

Then again, who knows with the monkey show up north who only hold coaches and GMs (in title only) accountable? At some point, you have to make a real change. You can only alienate and frustrate your fanbase so much.
