In an agreed statement of facts, Camardi said he would tie up a Siberian husky named Shadow with the leash tethered so high that the dog couldn’t lie down. He would then punch the dog, shove feces in its nose, and urinate on its head. A few days before the dog died, Camardi taped his mouth shut with medical tape and later dumped the dog in a nearby alley.
Quote:
Camardi and his girlfriend bought the dog as well as a cat named One Tooth online and brought them home to live with the couple and his mother. According to Camardi, the couple were both addicted to crack cocaine and didn’t spend money on dog food. Court heard Camardi’s girlfriend would occasionally give the dog fruits and vegetables or canned beans but the dog was slowly starving

Alberta Justice is seeking a penitentiary sentence and wants a psychiatric assessment done.
The defence argues Camardi has already served seven months in jail and should be released.
I hope the girlfriend gets charges too. Why did she stay with him even after hearing these things come from his mouth? Also she didn't do anything to prevent the abuse of the animals, and I'm willing to bet she participated in the abuse as well. It is absolutely impossible that you can miss or overlook two animals being tortured in your own household.. This goes to her and the mother who was living with them.

The defence lawyer needs a dose of reality. Any person who would do what his client did to a cat and a dog is a twisted ####ed up person who should be locked up for a long time.
Jesus Christ, people, defense lawyers are obligated to defend their clients to the best of their abilities. I doubt his lawyer thinks any higher of his client than you guys do.
Someone should b!tchslap the defence lawyer, these people are sic fvchs and should be treated as dangerious to society.
I understand this is a highly emotional case, but defence lawyers need to be there for people who are wrongfully accused just as they need to be there for the worst of us. You don't get to have one without the other.
Animal torture/killing is a brutal act and should be punished far worse than it is, but that isn't the fault of this particular lawyer.

Yup, I agree, and defense lawyers need to be there to ensure that the persons rights are respected and the trial is fair and balanced.
I have no problem with that, hopefully the justice system kicks this moron squarely in the a$$ and makes sure that he's no longer a threat.

"Const. Aaron Squirrell "
AARON SQUIRRELL.. you have to be kidding me man...
So going from that Calgary Sun article on May 30th that Banner posted.
The girlfriend applied for and was granted a emergency protection order based on the testimony of Cop Squirrell on March 10th who testified that he "told police that voices have been telling him to kill his girlfriend."
Pretty good grounds for a protection order one would think and a no brainer to issue one.
But on what grounds would the court not extend the order given that you have an individual telling the cops that he is hearing voices telling him to kill the person seeking the order?
Quote:
MacKay granted the application, but the order was not extended when it was reviewed by a Court of Queen’s Bench judge on April 30. Camardi, 19, faces four charges in connection with alleged incidents which occurred March 9, including the unlawful confinement of his girlfriend which triggered the protection order application.
