It was slow way before the weather banner.

Same, blocking the weather thingy cured the problem. The site still lags/delays loading occasionally but that is a separate issue.

I don't know if this is relevant information, but lately, CP seems to be continuously loading. Sorry, I'm not up on my tech lingo, but what I mean is, when I switch pages, the green circle on the CP tab (firefox) just keeps going and going forever. It never stops and shows the CP icon. This is the only site doing it on my computer, so no, it's not a porn virus.

Also possibly not relevant, when I hit the go button on the bottom of the page to go back to the forum, it does this weird thing where it scrolls up about 3 posts before switching pages.

The constantly loading is the weather widget, I guess I'll have to remove it.

For the weather widget the browser is basically waiting for a resource from the weather network, so it is their servers that are being slow, not much we can do about that unfortunately.

Yeah I was doing some new registrations about that time, doing searches on the user table can eat up some resources.

I also saw that the search function itself can sometimes take up a decent amount of resources, not much I can do about that at this point, working on some things that should help with all of this eventually tho.

Thanks for the info. I see no increase in web traffic, but definitely a spike on the DB side - 20,000 to 30,000 disk requests in a couple of minutes. That's about 30x normal. The DB doesn't look to have been serving much data to the webserver though, so I'm speculating it's another one of those queries Photon has been hunting down.

Edit: Darn, just like last time, Photon beat me to it by seconds.
