First duty for Paul Maurice.... move Dustin Byfuglien from defense to forward(wing). He's brutal defensively like always out of position. Maybe that'll improve Pavelec goaltending. Let Evander Kane play his game.

Maybe I was thinking of someone else. Anyways, he's been a head coach of Hartford Whalers, then when they moved to Carolina he stayed as a head coach. Coached Toronto Maple Leafs then back in Carolina and now Winnipeg.

Maurice seems like a step sideways. He kind of reminds me of Noelle. He's not a player's coach either.

^^^I have always heard Paul Maurice was a players coach. Maybe I am confused.

Anyways I can't believe it took this long. What a terrible hire to begin with and it never seemed he had the respect of the locker room.

You would think! He seems to have nine lives doesn't he? In actuality, this is only the 3rd NHL franchise. He started with Hartford, moved with the team to Carolina, went to Toronto, back to Carolina, and now he's in Winnipeg.

Everyone blamed Noel but truth remains the Jets are a mediocre team. Their core is a mediocre one, top end talent is mediocre, supporting players are mediocre, goaltending is mediocre at best terrible at worst.

Maurice is a good hire as he has a history of taking mediocre teams on paper and making them punch above their weight class.

But the Jets were a mediocre team in the weak East, and predictably were getting hammered in the strong West.

Maurice will help but they'll never be a contender.

I actually liked Noel. I think he called it like he saw it when a lot of other coaches will sugarcoat clichés.

I would like to see him have a team with some legitimate talent on it and see what happens then.

Yeah, and maybe the Flames could play 6 skaters instead too...
