Stajan, Cammalleri, Stempniak, Butler, Smith, O'Brien and D. Jones are not part of the rebuild for various reasons for each like being UFAs, being in the 29-31 years old bracket or not playing up to expectations.

Maybe not O'Brien, Jones and Smith but I figure all the rest will get traded.

We aren't scoring with them in the lineup so may as we'll give players like Street, B. Jones, Byron etc more opportunity and get futures for our UFAs.

We can sign mid-tier players in the offseason if needed..

No pressure. We just need him to fix our scoring.

Street should be able to play one more game, or stay on the roster for about a week before requiring waivers again.

Waivers on a player expire once he has played 10 NHL games (cumulative), or has spent 30 days (cumulative) on an NHL roster. Street has played 8 games with the Flames this season so far. He cleared waivers on September 30 and was sent down on October 22. I'm not sure how they count roster days, but he should be at 22 or 23 days on the NHL roster now.

Of course, even if he does stay up long enough to require waivers, it comes back to the old question that if he isn't good enough to stick on the 28th team in the league, which other team is going to commit an NHL roster spot to him?

Just be patient..it will happen. I think Burkie will trade Cammy, Stajan, Stempniak, Galliardi for sure if there's any taker.

Came expecting "Streets Ahead"; not sure if disappointed or relieved.

Great to see the guys who are excelling on the farm getting called up. Even if it's only to get a couple of days of NHL pay, it sends the message that success in Abbotsford is being noticed and appreciated, which is important to keep guys motivated and developing.

Re: Stajan, Calgary's in a weird place of having a glut of 2nd/3rd line centers. Just like Buckland was (IMO) unjustly stuck on the 4th line earlier, I think Stajan's there now not because his play warranted a demotion, but for reasons of performance (Buckland) or development (Monahan & Colborne) other guys got slotted ahead of him.

I'd go for Backes and Boyes...

Backes-Street-Boyes seems much closer than Backlund-Street-Boyes

Personally, I think he's made the team fast. What's sad to me is that the Flames are pretty small, but small and not that fast. (I wouldn't say slow).

Soon there will be a 'Paul "FRICKEN" Byron' thread.

Byron stand out because of the team he plays on. He looks good in a sea of suck. That does not make him great.

If he is still here when the Flames are good, and he still stands out as performing better then his team mates, then I will be impressed.

I think that's fair.

Byron won't be Flames property next season. Burke wants to get bigger and Byron isn't good enough offensively to be on this team.
