worst team in franchise history

obviously not Burke's fault, best deals are not made right now...trust me he hates this team more than any of us

I understand what you're saying but his team in Ottawa wasn't much better than ours. I wanted him to go to the World Juniors but other than that he should be in the NHL.

We'll get the same result against Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Not to rag too much on management, but surely they have to see that this team lacks skill more than toughness. Playing Westgarth, Macgrattan and Bouma on 2 separate lines really limits the skill element. The 4th line is unskilled, and the occasional 3rd line opportunity falls onto the stick of Bouma. No good.

Insofar as the playoffs, this season was a wash a long time ago. So all that's left of the season is to test out players and toughen them up mentally by teaching them to persevere (but not accept) losses. I think that's the development this team needs, and for that you don't need 3 tough guys riding shotgun.

I've never had nhl aspirations, but I feel like now is the time for amateur tryouts

Maybe he would have been traded somewhere good! I didn't know that the 67's were doing so poorly this season.

Good article by James Mirtle about the Leafs that I think applies to the Flames, and frankly, it scares me:

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sport...ticle16277368/

Stone age teams don't work in the NHL anymore.

yikes.

Must give credit to the people filling the seats. flames have been outscored 15-1 in their last 5 home games.

Anybody else sick of the rebuild yet? i hope 1 year of this is enough, and the team improves, even marginally, next season.

how do oiler fans do this year in and year out for a decade??

Default Flames Shut Out Again 5-0

Again, what the games come down to are special teams. Flames go 0-6 on the PP and Blues 2-6. Blues also tied for third in the league on the road at 25%.

Flames outshot Blues 33-29 so that tells you a bit about the quality of shots and the inability to execute.

Hudler was by far the best Flame and got 6 shots.

Wideman a -3 and Smid -2 tonight.

Where was the truculence from Wesgarth and McGrattan in this game? They should have been put out there until they got in a fight!

I believe we're at a crossroads here and breaking point so to speak now.

What has to happen is a coaching change and a big deal for an impact player, even if the Flames include some draft picks and current prospects.

I like Hartley but it's just not working.

You still have to ice a team that can play the scheduled games in the NHL here.

Next up Pittsburgh and Sidney Crosby.

Might be tough to see some moves here with the Olympics coming up.

I don't even bother watching anymore. I'm embarrassed as a Flames Fan about that, but there's nothing interesting about it for me and I don't enjoy it right now, so here we are.

Even a single goal sprinkled in would be swell

I might be off base, but could that have anything to with Burke taking over?

I was there for one of them but I highly doubt I will attend another game this season. The value for my dollar isn't there.

I'm a pretty positive guy, but wow this is the worst stretch of hockey from the flames I've ever watched. Just beyond frustrating to watch this team right now. Can't even imagine how frustrated the players must be. Burke better be working those phones hard.

I think it is. Burke and his impatience seems to have players looking over thier shoulders waiting for the next bomb to drop. Players seem on edge and having less fun as compared to the start of the season.

What impatience? He hasn't shown any so far.

If these guys are so mentally fragile that Burke taking over causes them to start losing like crazy then he should deal most of them.

Fans love to invent causation where there isn't any.
