HUGE strikeout by Walker to end the 17th.
According to Campbell, this is the longest home game in Jays history. One more inning and it becomes the longest game overall.

Yeah baby! Nice hit O-Dog! 5 infielders, infield in, and he still gets a ground ball through.

And the Jays sweep the four...err... three game series!
4 back of the Red Sox, and 3 back of the wild card.

what a finish! come in from a late bike ride expecting highlights and I catch the action from the 14th inning onward. Terrific base running and a lovely seeing eye single by Hudson. Nice!

You know, I just realized the Jays are 4th in all of baseball in runs scored. Pretty amazing for a team nobody expected to have an offense.
Just imagine if Halladay hadn't gotten hurt...

This kind of game could be the TSN turning point on the Jays season.
That would be a heartbreaker to lose, and usually it seems thats the type of game the Jays would lose. But to win that one was huge. It makes all 18 innings worthwhile if you get a win out of it. That is a huge, huge boost for the next few games.
Thank god they ended it when they did, only pitcher left was League

Yeah. To lose that would've really hurt primarily considering how the Jays had to spend so much of their bull pen. To lose that game and have a bunch of tired arms would have sucked.
Lost in all this is the tremendous outing by Dave Bush. If he can pitch well for the rest of the year and we get Doc back things are looking up!

YES!! Thank god...what a huge win. You could see how much it took out of the angels seeing Cabrrera coming off the field. THe bullpen was amazing tonight and so was Bush. But the pen better sleep well tonight because tommorow Scott Downs going and then the AA call up Mgowan or whatever, against the Rangers lineup! Jays move to only 4 back of the div lead and gain ground on a few wildcard teams.
Props to Zaun by the way, 18 innings catched..WOW

Who would have thought, that on July 29th, the Jays would be in the thick of a wildcard race and their starting rotation was Chacin, Towers, Bush, Downs, and McGowan. Their only players above .300 are Catalanotto and Hill, and the highest RBI total would be 61.

I heard on the late night ESPN radio on the Fan960 that someone thinks that the Bluejays (when healthy) have the best starting rotation in the AL East. Don't ask who said that because I didn't catch all of it. Maybe true the way Chacin, Bush and Towers have pitched these last couple of games.

I thought our teams strength was Defence. Now we're fourth in runs scored and people are saying are rotation is solid? You'd think we'd have a better record than what we have now. I have a bad feeling about the next series though. Especially with Downs and the rookie.

Well lets be honest no one in the East has a very good starting rotation. The Yankees have serious injury problems, the O's are terrible, and the Sox are nothing to write home about. With a healthy Halladay and Lilly, and with Chacin in the top 10 in ERA and Towers and Bush below 5, than yeah the Jays probably are the best rotation in the East. But it's like how San Diego is the best team in the west. It doesn't mean they have a great rotation, so much as everyone else doesn't.
