I wish Hartley would sit David Jones for, I don't know, the rest of the year. He tries hard, but man, nothing goes right for him.

He's played wing and centre I believe. More because there's a glut of natural centres in Abby with Street, Knight, Reinhart, Granlund, Jooris, Horak (earlier in the season), Jones (earlier in the season), Byron (earlier in the season), etc. Ward has had no choice but to move centres to the wing.

His English is pretty good. I think it was Ortio who said that he understands English pretty well, but he just needs the confidence to speak it in front of the cameras.

Glad to see him up here, honestly believe he is better than his brother and will show well up here. He and Ferland had really nice chemistry developing before Ferland got injured. Hope Markus can find some chemistry with some of the flames and stick for a few games.

If Granlund plays tonight, it'll be his third game in a row. He'll be tired, but adrenaline will keep him going.

No offence but his brother doesn't have Markus shot. They both have high hockey IQ.

They're not quite apples and oranges, but they're quite different players. Mikael brings a ton of energy and plays a pretty physical game in addition to his skill. Markus is all skill and plays a very calculated game. I think Markus' stick handling one-on-one is vastly better than his brother's.

Based on what exactly?

Mikael has outscored him at every level they have played (using seasons at the same age), was a much higher rated prospect and has shown he is competent at the NHL level.

Outside of Markus being a Flames prospect what would make you think he is a better player?

That hasn't stopped him from being a better offensive player than Markus.

Mikael played 29 games in Houston last season. He had 10 goals and 18 assists for 28 points.

Coincidentally, Markus has played 29 games this season in Abbotsford. He has 13 goals and 11 assists for 24 points.

moon as per usual you don't ever back up facts Markus also outscored his brother in the AHL and at the world juniors. Markus had 12 pts in 6 games including 5 goals and Mikael only had 11 pts in his last world juniors in 7 games with only 2 goals. How about trying to be nice once in awhile instead of yanking everyones chain around here.

Don't back-up my facts?

At the AHL Mikaeal had 28 points in 29 games games Markus has 24. Not sure how you count but where I come from 28 is more than 24.

Also at the WJHC it would be interesting to see Mikael's number if he had the benefit of playing in the relegation round. Markus racked up 7 of his 12 points in the relegation round blowouts of Germany and Slovakia.

This is not meant to be a criticism of Markus (even though I am sure it will be spun that way by some) but I am trying to figure out why you think he is better than Mikael when there is nothing to indicate that.

Favourite Abby prospect. I'm so excited to see him get his chance on the big stage.

Dude, you're the one who made the ridiculous claim that he was better than his brother. That is an absurd thing to say. You should be the one bringing facts into the equation because that really is a silly thing to say.

If you use the weak opponents argument you should make sure it didn't apply to Mikael. Guess what....Mikael got 4 of his points in a 10-1 win over powerhouse Denmark. Fail again. Also Markus scored more goals in the AHL, but I guess professional stats don't matter. Give Markus and Mikael a few years in the NHL and we'll see who's right. Also if you think Mikael is more successful consider he has 2 goals this year in 27 NHL games, going out on a limb here but I bet Markus scores more than 2 goals in his first 27 NHL games. Anyone want to take that bet? C'mon Moon you know you want to. I can afford 100 bucks not much but it's something.

Aw, I really want him to play. Even if Backs is good to go, scratch Jones or Stempniak, and bring Granlun in. It'd be exciting to see how he does.

Professional stats do matter but so do assists and Mikael has more points than Markus does. I don't usually see people only using goals when comparing players unless that is the specific comparison. Usually points overall is what is used.

I guess we will see who is right and I am not saying the Markus can end up the better player just that there is nothing to indicate that he will be other than him being a Flames prospect. If you are basing solely on goals you may end up being right, I think their is more to a player than just his goals scored total.

Even if backs is in, bench Jones and stick Grany on the wing
