My wife says thank you for this post. I don't really get it.

When I take a really big dump I love staring at it while it flushes down the toilet. Makes me feel proud for some reason. I can only imagine that's how you feel when your first child is born.

When you're freezing your butt off in your car and you've finally warmed your engine up enough to start blasting your heat.

Ringing a shot hard off the post/crowbar when you're playing in the cold outside.

A cold beer on a hot summers day
Waxing a vehicle and admiring the shine
Making a baby smile
Petting a strangers dog
Making eye contact with the opposite sex and giving them a smile

a few of these have been mentioned before....

the smell of rain
the smell of a roast in the oven (turkey, chicken, beef, ham, etc.)
making our little girl smile/laugh
playing bass
hearing peter maher yell, 'YEEEAAAAA BABY!!!!' ...gives me chills every time!! i love it!
knowing a guy has you totally beat and somehow still making the save
related to the above... seeing the puck go by and hearing it clang off the post/crossbar.... or is it more of a 'doink!'
fixing stuff on my truck and the satisfaction of knowing i was able to do it myself
the smell of apple crisp in the oven (crap... now i'm salivating!)
getting out of the city and just enjoying the quietness

Driving in the rain.
Going for a run in the rain.
Thunder and lightning.
The sound of belly laughs from my young daughters when we're playing.

Agree about the Apple Crisp, but I think I could do a list of 50 that is all about food. I love food.

You feel something isn't right while sleeping...then you realize you have your socks on. You take them off and find that cold spot on the bed.

It's a doink when you're inside

It's something about that crushing 'CLANG' of the ice cold puck hammering off a frozen steel post and cutting through the cold air when you're outside. Such a cool sound.

There was always something haunting yet peaceful about the sound of a swing squeaking when you're all alone at the playground.

A simple hug from kids can make everything else just melt away.

Ice cold beer after a hard fought hockey game.

Seeing a car drive down the street with a dog riding shotgun or backseat with its head out the window. They always look so happy.
That first moment of pure, uninterrupted silence when your wife and kids are out of the house coupled with the realization that you actually have some time to yourself.
The smell of good food cooking.
That first stretch in the morning.

It's the simple things in life that matter. I feel bad for all you materialistic people out there...you will never be satisfied.

Isn't this just the same as the "What really makes me happy" thread?

I love the smell inside Jan's Meats and Deli at Crowchild and 2nd NW

Also, hearing the people inside there speak Polish reminds me of being young at my Babcha's (grandmother) house. She's been gone for 8 years and was the first family member I lost. Hearing random Polish conversations is always a treat.

When you see yourself in whatever actions/behaviors your kids are doing.

After a snowfall, when every single tree branch is covered with a small blanket of snow, even mid afternoon in the sun.

The first sip of a draft beer in a pub.

Are you kidding me? That's a personal hell. I HATE waking up that close to alarm time.

Few of mine:

-pushing off in a boat for the first time that day for a day of fishing
-Sitting down in front of puter, drink in hand, ready to take on an epic night of gaming
-waking up at like 6AM on a summer Saturday morning and listening to the birds chirping before drifting off again
-home made nachos coming out of the oven in time for the start of the game

Not really. That is more for personal stories. This is more for those dumb little things that seem insignificant, but some how make your day like:

Getting a full size strawberry or cherry in a yogurt container.
