Oilers just need one more #1 pick to take off. That big #1D in Ekblad. Well... cant let McDavid get by, but after him they're done I swear.

After asking my brother (Oilers fan) if he's given up, here's his response:
" Washington rebuild: 8yrs
Chicago rebuild: 7yrs
LA rebuild: 8yrs
Pittsburgh: 9 yrs
Oilers since drafting hall: only 4 yrs. Dallas Eakins says we can't give up like the fan that threw the jersey."
I hope you talk to his doctor about upping his medication.
27 points at the Christmas break is still 3 points lower than their previous worst total at the break (since the introduction of the OTL point).
Yeah, 2010-11, the year they finished 30th and 6 points behind the 29th place team? Better record at Christmas than this year.

When do we consider a rebuild to be over?
The Oilers are a cap team. That's the end of the rebuild. This is the finished product. Also, why does this guy include previous Blackhawk rebuilds (Calder, Bell, Daze years) into their total but not the Oilers previous rebuild of Nilsson, Cogliano and Gagner?
Makes no sense.

wow the Oilers rolled up on a under .500 Winnipeg team.
Color me impressed, but I guess this will keep the wolves at Bay for a while and Oiler fans can spend Christmas talking about how the Oil are on the right track now.
Course if the Oilers can't beat the Flames who are missing Glencross, Wideman, Russell and probably Stajan expect the Wolves to eat a baby or two.

The Kings didn't start rebuilding until Lombardi was hired. Rebuild start to playoffs was 4 years. Rebuild to cup was 6 years.
I guess it all depends what you consider enough success to indicate the end of the rebuild. I would argue that making playoffs consecutive season shows rebuilding success, the cup is the intangible that puts you over the top. In LA, that was Sutter.
Your Oiler friend is inflating the number of years each team took to rebuild to justify the gong show in Edmonton. If you aren't a playoff team after 4 years of rebuilding, your management team is a failure. Edmonton isn't even close. They aren't rebuilding, they have no plan, they don't fill holes in the roster, they can't bring in the right players and they're perpetually one of the worst teams in the league, regardless of multiple first overall picks. They are an embarrassment. But if the fans are buying it, the organization feels no pressure to get the right management to do the job.

anyone see the crazy finish in San Jose last night?
Sharks led the Avs 3-2 with less than 2 minutes left in the game. The Avalanche pull their goalie, and get the tying goal. Then, with about a minute left, they score again to take the lead! So, now, the Sharks pull their goalie. And sure enough, they tie it again! First time I've ever seen both teams score at the end of a game, after each pulling their respective goalies.

I don't think I have ever seen that - and I have been watching hockey a lot longer then you have!
