I just love the comments in this thread. Makes Milan Lucic sound like Chuck Norris.

Just to remind people here.. Milan Lucic is a great athlete and good hockey fighter; but people are making it sound like he could never lose a street fight. While he is a good hockey fighter and probably has trained 'MMA' he is clearly drunk in this video and there are some pretty tough, healthy over 6'0, 200lbs people in almost every city. I am not saying you guys are wrong and he would get beat up..But at the same time its not un-heard of or impossible for a drunk or even sober Lucic to lose a fight on or off skates. Not to mention there are tons of professional / experienced fighters / roid monkeys walking about in places like Vancouver and Boston who wouldnt be afraid to fight Lucic either out of foolishness or they actually have the ability to defend themselves.

PS. Go Bruins this season! Want to see Iggy get his cup more on that team than I did on the Pens for some reason..

For sure looks like some dbag picked a fight with him as he was leaving. Punched him multiple times.
We heard how Lucic's family in Van took a lot of heat during the playoffs. This is just an extension of it.

Over 40 posts and not one portrait view reference, I am disappoint.

I would side with Lucic here, but in today's game it seems odd to me to see these athletes wasted and out this late during the season. I must be getting older but the full recovery time for me can be as much as two days if I have a real big one anymore.

Crazy how quickly this guy went from a Vancouver hero to a hated status.

Born and raised in Vancouver, starred on the Giants, MVP of their only Memorial Cup to getting targetted in nightclub fights and his local church being vandalized. Nice one Van.

Scraping in a bar or whatever is a different game then standing up going toe to toe. you can't "kick" the $$%# out of someone on the ice.
Pu**ies are more apt to fight on the ice, likely why you have higher percentage.

I don't know what percentage of hockey fighters train in MMA, but I do know that of any gym that I have worked out at, I have yet to see an active NHLer. Not to say that some do not train, but what is the point? The weight training side of MMA, yes absolutely many NHLers are active in, but the majority of this training can take place outside of the typical MMA gym. Rolling with guys on the ground and actively sparring is probably limited. But what do I know. If they want to be a better hockey fighter, I would think boxing is the way to train, not MMA.

Lucic on the street would be bad news because anyone dumb enough to pick that fight probably has other people dumb enough to do stupid things. A sucker punch or weapon could easily end Lucic's career. Or he could be facing someone that can complete a takedown, now Lucic is getting his shoulder torn up.

I find it funny too that some guys in here think a pro hockey player is the shizznit even off the ice.
I have seen a few pros get in scraps at the clubs I bounced at in TO in the 80's. I have seen guys like Corson and Macsorely lose and guys like Kordic win. They win, they lose just like everybody else. Heck, Craig Adams couldn't win a fight in our ball hockey league.
Most of the times the scrap is not the fault of the player it is usually the posse around them that starts it cause they think they own the club and the local tough guys decide to correct that perception.

They would need to charge everybody in Vancouver. Because apparently, everybody is a gangster out there and has the means to hurt/kill someone. This is why I hate going to Vancouver! Beautiful city but I can't stand the people who live there.

Kordic tried to fight an acquaintance of mine back in the day. Canadian Heavyweight champ Ken Lacusta intervened and asked Kordic to leave the kids alone and step outside with a man. Even nutjob Kordic had a clue and declined. Heavyweight boxers they are not.

To add to that there is a very high rate of training injuries in boxing/MMA. It's something that all amateur/professional fighters are aware of, and just accept as part of the business. I would think that would be a heavy deterrent for guys whose living depends on their ability to remain healthy and productive. If a fighter suffers a training injury it's not as big a deal because you're not fighting every other night. You might have to drop out of one fight and schedule one at a later date. Hockey players don't really have that option. Even during the off-season an injury can really set back their training.

There's not only the fact that Lucic is a professional athlete, but he was also a boxer as a teenager. He can legitimately fight. Not saying that he would win any fight, but he's not just a hockey player.

to be fair, Haggerty named his dog after Lucic so we don't know 100% which one he is getting the quotes from....

I was just in Vancouver and actually pretty surprised by the d-bag and tension level. I go out all the time in Calgary, and have been out in a LOT of other cities, in both the US and Canada. While that is always there to a certain extent, in Vancouver it seemed really prevalent.

To be fair though, both of those cities fanbases deserve each other.
