For the longest time posties were permitted to use their personal vehicle, recently they purchased a bunch of mini van type things and require that all posties use them for their walk now.

Not true. My parents house was built in 1984 and they have had a super box for at least 2 decades.

I thought they only used those for commercial.
Its almost embarrassing seeing these guys driving two feet at a time stopping and dropping some envelopes in a mailbox before getting back in driving another two feet and dropping more mail.

A few months ago they got rid of the relay boxes on the walks so now all carriers need the car to hold the mail for the various parts of their walk.
So now they drive to a section of their walk and drop off the mail for x amount of houses and end up back at the car, then drive to another location and do the same thing. Repeat x amount of times and they are done for the day, where they used to walk their whole walk and delivery drivers would drop off bags of mail at the relay boxes for each section of the walk.

It wasn't even called juice it was called a fruit flavored beverage.
My parents would be scrapping me off of the ceiling after drinking a glass of that sweet sweet stuff.

Why would you get artificial nuclear-orange juice delivered door to door in the morning? The past doesn't make any sense!

When we were kids we didn't worry as much about what we put in our bodies food wise as long as we were never in the house and were outside burning it the hell off.
Hell we could eat lego for all our parents cared but it would come out a smoking lump of melted plastic because it soaked in the beep in our stomachs.

Haha, how old are you? Complaining about stamp prices places you firmly in the 75+ category.

My question is not from a health standpoint as I drank the most delicious artificial beverages as a kid and still remember most of the awesome advertisements for them from the 80s.
My question is why that service was even offered. Who was selling Beep as a morning door to door delivery item and why? Milk I can understand.

Being completely selfish I enjoy currently having home delivery, yes I'll miss it.
But I admit it always seemed a little silly to me that on the east side of elbow drive we had home delivery, while the west side of elbow had the super boxes. Homes that are 500 feet away from our complex had to use the super boxes, while the mail delivery person stopped at 100+ doors in our complex for hand delivery. So from a tax payer perspective it's about time.

Just because you don't need mail delivery every day doesn't mean a lot of others don't. Businesses, in particular, rely heavily on the mail to be delivered daily.

Meet him at the door without pants. That ought to help. </mrnopants>
We just watched for ours and managed to catch him one day and told him we didn't want any flyers. We did the same with our delivery guy (contracted) - met him at the superbox by chance one day and asked that we don't get any more flyers in the box - only items that had our actual name and address on them. We periodically get letters from Canada Post asking us to resume flyer delivery to our mailbox but we ignore them. The only thing we seem to keep getting regardless, are political mailings, that aren't addressed to anyone. We shove those back in the outgoing mail box.
