Mine shows up when you search in the device tab, but it won't connect for some reason. I'm not sure if it's my tv in the master bedroom. If I move the chromecast to the bonus room tv then everything works. I also have a router in the bonus room. I did a factory reset as well. Tried on both my phone and Nexus 7 and keep getting the same results. Can anyone help?

Rented a movie from the Play store tonight. No sound. Tried rebooting, power cycling, etc. Didn't work. I'm convinced it was that specific movie, because when I tried other movies in my library, I had no issues.
The ironic part is that it was the movie 'Jobs.' Even in death, Steve loves to screw with Android...

Desktop casting is available on the Google Cast plug-in, but it's in Beta at the moment. I personally haven't tested it myself though. I'm sure they'll get it working eventually though.
Rumour right now is that they're working on not just replicating your desktop, but your Android device as well. So good things coming to us Chromecast owners!

I tried casting US Netflix by just using the tab cast in Chrome but it's buggy.
Is there something else you're doing? I too am using MediaHint, and would love to be able to stream this way.

Weird. No nothing specific. I just turned the streaming down to 480p. TheCallMeBruce said even 720p standard (i.e. not extreme) works for him.
The other option you can consider (which I haven't tried) is rooting your Chromecast.

Here's a question I only started to try to figure out but is proving more difficult than I think it should be.
I'm listening to an audio book on my iPhone. It's been great for the copious amounts of shovelling I've had to do over this winter. However is like to play t in the house while cleaning, working out, etc.
The stereo system in the living room would be perfect for this. If love to be able to chromecast the audiobook, including where I left off etc.
I can stream video but haven't found how to stream just the audio.
Anyone have a fix for this? I'm sure it's something very simple and stupid that I'm missing.

Only supported apps right now are Netflix and YouTube for iPhone I believe and neither will do audiobooks. I don't believe there a fix here
Great to hear someone else is as nerdy as me and listens to books.

Real Player Cloud will get your videos to Chromecast.
But darn it I want my audiobooks! It's how I'm ever so slowly going through the Songg of Fire and Ice series.

I've had mine for awhile and I don't even turn on my XBMC boxes anymore when I don't need to watch the legacy stuff. Divx is the last piece before I can scrap my XBMC and plex players and just use my Chromecast with Allcast on my Nexus 5.
Exciting things happening in the chromecast world. You can do screen mirroring now too.

Photowall for Chromecast is a new Chrome Experiment that lets people collaborate with images on the TV - using phones or tablets. Anyone can take a picture and send it to a Photowall to instantly see it on the big screen.
When you’re finished, a YouTube video of your Photowall is automatically generated. Perfect for sharing with everyone who took part.

Has anybody else had this issue where the Chromecast refuses to remain connected to wifi after a while? After factory resetting it, it works fantastic with Youtube/Plex. Eventually it disconnects and will not reconnect unless I disconnect the power. Even after that, it's very temporary/not at all that it connects.
Edit: UPNP is enabled on the main supplied router/modem from Telus. I also do have a second router acting as a bridge with it being supplied data from the original modem/router via powerline.

Finally found a way to stream XBMC onto the Chromecast. Fairly simple setup and only one paid app at around $2.50 I think. Basically setting up AVIA to pass the streaming from XBMC to the Chromecast. Watched a couple of shows last night with no issues. This is for a phone or tablet not a PC. It says to use a nightly version of XBMC but it works fine on the stable Gotham release on my N7.
Link to XDA thread.

If you buy the 40 dollar Chromecast from Google Play, you get a 20 dollar credit for the Play Store. Until June 30th.
