I can't imagine the blackmail material that Butler must have on Feaster & Co.
With yet another defenseman on the burn pile, Butler reminds me of that evil villain that always escapes at the end of the movie.

Butler is a lot better NHL D than Smith will ever be.
I assume, based on your post and the topic, you do not see it that way.

Since it doesn't really fit anywhere (and it will likely tick some people off)... Berra is starting tomrrow.

I wonder if Boston put a claim in on him. They need bodies badly.

My issues with Butler is two fold.
1. How Hartley uses him, and when. This isn't Butler's fault, so part of my 'issues' with Butler is more directly with the coach. I don't see him as a 1-4 Dman - at all. However, Hartley must. To me, he is the bottom end of a 6-7, and should consequently see no more than 8 minutes a night (when he isn't healthy scratched).
2. Butler has demonstrated on numerable occasions that he cannot handle pressure worth a damn. When the game is on the line, and there is less than two minutes left...staple him to the bench.
That is all

i loved smith when he first got here. He was an awesome surprise in what was otherwise a pretty depressing year for flames fan. It's unfortunate about his injury, as he seems to have never recovered or found his groove again after coming back.

Any internet forum is a breeding ground for angst and the malcontent. I am guilty of that from time to time as well.
On a positive note, I would like to say that I have been impressed with what Feaster has been doing. He has been right on at draft day, and we are seeing some serious skill enter the ranks.
If Johnny Hockey really does sign, that will be a nice jewel in Feaster's cap.
Keep on, keeping on!!!

Gotta hand it to Feaster here, he's been pretty slick with the waiver wire. I don't think we've ever lost anyone during his tenure, and have had a couple of ok pickups.

Having players on one way contracts, that other teams don't want for free, is not really a sign of being "slick". I would think its closer to having a wasted contract.

Slightly surprised (and slightly relieved, from a Heat perspective) that Smith cleared, considering some teams are having injury issues on their back end. Hope he does well for the Heat!

And there are some people in the organization (Feaster) that will be criticised and beaten up no matter what they do. I'm pretty sure that if Smith was claimed Feaster would be chastised for putting him on waivers rather than praised that there are so many good players they can't keep them all.
I'm undecided on whether I like the job Feaster is doing, but I'm pretty sure than he's gone beyond Damned if you do, Damned if you don't, to simply Damned. It get's a little tiresome.

What is there to debate, Feaster has brought in:
Hudler, Wideman, Baertschi, Gaudreau, Granlund, Wotherspoon, Smid, Cammalleri, Russell, Knight, Colborne, Poirier, Klimchuk, Monahan, Gillies, Billins, Hanowski, Agostino, Galiardi, Sieloff, Street, the Jones', Stempniak, Berra and Ramo.
The players he moved out were not part of the future. He has not made any significantly bad trades, has restocked our cupboards and has not mortgaged the future in doing so. I like how he is always actively looking to improve by any means available.
Feaster has done well here. This is just the beginning..

I'm very interested in buying the thing you manufacture or service you provide, perhaps we should go discuss it in person... place of your choosing.
