The people that don't care if Iginla wins a cup are in the minority, but good lord are they a vocal minority on CP. Like, two year old pulling at your leg all day, vocal.

The return sucked because Feaster waited a few seasons too long to rebuild when it was obvious we were nowhere near winning a cup. Not to mention advertising to the teams that they were the only ones Iginla listed, taking away all his leverage (kind of ironic he is a lawyer).

How? He had a no trade clause and was approached to be traded. He earned the NTC and could have easily declined the Flame's request and we would have got nothing for him.

I find it hilarious that some fans could turn their back on Iginla. Pathetic.

I'm honestly not sure why you bothered softening that with the smiley.

He took advantage of a power the Flames afforded him. If they had simply asked him for a list and left him out of the process from that point forward there would be no controversy.

I still prefer the way he left compared to the the Alfredsson-Senators situation.

Seriously? You should be happy he's getting his chance to win a Cup.

My lasting memory of Iggy in the final years was captaining an uncoachable team of entitled veterans who refused to buy into a team game otherwise known as the country club years.

That's too bad for you. I will always remember him going into beast mode in 2004 carrying the team along with Kipper on their backs to 15 playoff victories. 2 of the best months of my life

Apparantly you haven't met Tinordi/Hakan. This is what he does.

I just said my memory in his final years. I still remember the 2004 run well. However, the peak end rule, has sullied my overall set of memories.

My lasting memory is of 2004 and his greatest shift

Yep, Iginla should have submitted his list, then the next contact Feaster should have had with him is "Team X has an offer we would accept, will you go? - Yes or No?" None of this other crap that went on.

From what I understand of the situation they did ask him for a list and he did provide a list of 4 teams he would be willing to go to. Sounds like they went off that 4 team list, got the best offer from Boston and told Boston they had a deal. At that point Iginla said he'd only go to PIT, thus making the list of 4 teams he was "willing" to be traded to irrelevant.

From everything I've heard that's how it went down. Not getting his signature to waive the no trade in advance to go to any of those 4 teams caused all the problems.

I don't hold any ill will, I just don't care if he wins a cup or not...unless he comes back to the Flames in his early 40s and wins one

I am a Flames fan and don't really care about other teams (unless they are playing the Oilers or Canucks)

It's hard for me to not remember the Octobers where he was the worst player on the ice for many games putting us in a hole that we couldn't climb out of. Strange that he was such a slow starter considering he was always in great shape.

I'll probably get more pity for that statment. I'm probably letting the whole I'll go to BOS, oh wait no, only PIT annoy me more than it should. But overall I have fonder memories of Fleury than I do of Iginla. A lot of the latter Iginla led Flames teams were massive sources of frustration and disappointment and maybe I blame the captain too much for them. Clearly others put the blame mostly on the coach but to each their own. Obviously I'll get some heat for not taking the party line and being an Iginla fanboy still.
